Forums - Sales - *Can 360 or PS3 get a 20 Million seller?*

Wii Sports is the highest selling game of all time, bundles or not, a game sells what a game sells.

So those here so desperate to make Kinect Adventures not count, give it up. If it passes 20 million, it's a 20 million seller.

You don't believe that.

OT:

A bundled KA could definitely have a shot at making it. Then again, I doubt Wii Sports would have crossed even 15 million without being bundled. So I don't know if KA will be counted or not: It depends on how heavily bundled it is.

These days, I do. I imagin Wii Sports would have got their without the bundling, KA no way. But a game sold is a game sold whether anyone likes it or not.

Edit - also didn't you leave? didn't take you long to come back did it  ...

I was just thinking will the 360 or PS3 ever be able to make a game reach the 20 Million mark? The Wii obviously has a bigger userbase(Many people on here tell me that userbase doesn't matter though but I personally think it does) but now has 4 20 Million sellers! I don't count Wii Sports or Resort as they were both bundled(though W.S.R would have made it either way) but Wii Play__Mario Kart Wii__Wii Fit__and New Super Mario Bros. Wii have all sold over 20 Million now.

Can 360 or PS3 get at least 1 20 Million seller? As of now the highest selling game on both systems is Modern Warfare 2 with 12 Million on the 360 and about 9 Million on PS3.

The PS3 hasn't even had a 10 Million seller as of yet so I think its unlikely that PS3 will ever have a 20 Million seller but it could happen in the future with an unannounced game as I don't think Gran Turismo 5 or Sports Champions can reach that mark...They may struggle to reach 10 Million if at all. Also, The PS and PS2 are the top 2 selling Home systems of all time and both failed to see a 20 Million seller.

Next, the 360...as of now I don't see any announced game reaching 20 Million either though Kinect Adventures has a chance if it has the "legs" to do so. The closest thing I can compare Kinect to is Wii Fit which Kinect Adventures is currently selling faster than Wii Fit...but Wii Fit was still selling over 100K a week in America alone after 1 year of release.  Could Kinect Adventures become Microsoft's Wii Fit? As of now it seems possible but I still have my doubts it can last especially without Japan since Wii Fit wouldn't have sold 20 Million if it had failed in Japan.

Anyway above is just my opinions but do you think the 360, PS3, or both could ever see a 20 Million seller?

My only problem with considering Kinect Adventures is your reasoning for why you can't count Wii Sports or Wii Sports Resort.  You say that because they are bundled, they don't really count.  So my question to you is how many people really would have bought Kinect Adventures if it wasn't bundled with Kinect.  It looks like a cool game to me, but a 20 million seller...I'm not so sure of that.

Just because you feel that way, doesn't make it so.  It's a completely valid opinion to exclude games that have all or a majority of its sales due to bundling.  Personally I would exclude Wii Sports, WSR, Wii Play, and Kinect Adventures.  Wii Fit could also go into that category, depending on whether or not you believe the game sold the board or vice versa.

So for me, that leaves MK Wii and NSMB Wii as the only true 20 million sellers based on the selling power of the game itself.

Your first sentance is exactly what I say to you, the site here counts Wii Sports as highest selling game and I think the record books do as well.

It boggles my mind why it's not minesweeper then.

You just made my night!!!  Since we are talking about that, we should also include Chess, Freecell, Hearts, Solitaire...hmm, didn't pinball used to come with a lot of computer? lololololol

So you start believing that since Kinect came out?

Or perhaps you're lying and want an excuse to celebrate Kinect's succes when and if it crosses 20M?

Either way, I don't like it.

Yeah, I came back. I couldn't resist your charm, Seece.

Yeah, I came back. I couldn't resist your charm, Seece.

Why would I need an excuse to celebrate Kinect selling 20 million? Perhaps you mean Kinect Adventures, even then, no.

And yeah it was when Kinect came out, because that's when it provoked discussion for the first time in a long time about bundled games counting.

Never had you down as the type to do the whole attention seeking leaving thing and then coming back a week later

I know my charms are strong but I've never directed them at you so we have an unrequited love thing going on.

Yeah, I still don't believe you. Even if you did dig up some post about the discussion.

Maybe then, you could figure out when I arrived and what else happened at the Chartz at that point.

this is quite silly, People buy Wii fit for Wii fit. The other balance board games are for the most part cashins because people who have a BB would not mind having other games to play on it (We Ski is prime example) I would think VERY few people bought Wii Fit for the balance board only.

If you are going to count Kinect Adventures, then you must except the fact the Wii Sports has sold 70 million. But most of you want wanting to count KA, aren't willing to do the same for WS.

I am not tracking however that WSR is heavily bundled. Also the only ones I have seen you pay more for WSR bundle (meaning you are not getting it for Free)

I count WSR,   but do not count WiiSports or KA.

If anything WS has more say since it sold 3 million stand alone in Japan.

End of 2009 Predictions (Set, January 1st 2009)

Wii- 72 million   3rd Year Peak, better slate of releases

360- 37 million   Should trend down slightly after 3rd year peak

PS3- 29 million  Sales should pick up next year, 3rd year peak and price cut

I don't care enough for you to believe me dtewi,

you say I lie about believing bundles should be counted, I say you lie about leaving to get attention on a video game website, quits!
