It's a action game. You expected a lot of replay value?

I see no reason why not?  Alternate ending, unlockable skins, some extra mode at the very least.  Hell even time trial leaderboards or something. ANYTHING.

It didn't even do a bad job of replay value, there would need be an attemt to add reply value for that.

It gives you a longer single player up to 20 hours when others are 8-10.

Do you really need more replay valve when it gives you a longer single player than most action games?

The length of the game isn't what it really seems, enemies have more health than in most games of the type so take longer to kill, take away the cutscenes and overly long intros to many the levels and there isn't much to it, I've been speed running my hardest playhtrough and I've burned through chapters 1-8 on hardest faster than I did chapters 1-4 on normal.  I've been meeting trial requirements for all but 3 levels on hardest too which should be slowing me down.  Lasting 20 hours even first time I find hard to believe.

I think replay value it more important anyway, a 10 hour game I want to play 3-4 times is better than a 20 hour once (my second playthrough is purely for trophies which I do not count as real replay value either).

Again: enemies die faster through a combination of item usage and your strong combos. You will notice a difference, to the point that they don't take longer to kill than in any other major action title this year.

So you are reinforcing my point it isn't very long and not 20 hours?   Why do you keep presuming I do not use items also, I do and still find my stance accurate.  It isn't like I can combo slower, they have a set timing.

Not at all; I didn't bother timing it, myself. But your inability to carry on combos isn't due to a lack of opportunity provided by the system, as I carry mine out constanly (even the Heavy Direct Attack).

I presume you don't use items as often as the game allows because you describe your gameplay experience as if you were fighting in God of War (roll, hit hit, roll, hit hit, etc.); when you operate sub-optimally in one way, I assume you operate sub-optimally in other ways, too.

lol I seen there was enough skeptical people for you to make a thread :p

nice discution between khuut and diso

Demon's Soul is more Castlevania than this game.

Now this I'm interested in hearing an elaboration on.

Lords of Shadow is too much like God of War (and a little Shadow of Colossus), Demon's Soul has all the atmosphere of the old Castlevanias, is hard as hell like the NES games, the levels resemble some areas in classic Castlevania.

There's a lot of tension and discovery that really make it feel like old CV.

That's just the thing, though, the NES Castlevanias weren't horror games, they were Action Platformers. I'll grant every day of the week that Demon's Souls is harder, more somber, and much scarier than Lords of Shadow, but the only element of those that fits in Castlevania's classic past is difficulty. As to exploration, you do have a point there, but Lords of Shadow has about the same amount as the classic Castlevanias while Demon's Souls is somewhere between that and the Metroidvanias.

Castlevania isn't a scary series by nature. Like I said to disolitude earlier, there are a lot of ways in which Lords of Shadow holds perfectly to the spirit of the original game.
