Great game. I wonder when the dlc will be released.

I both love and kind of hate the game at the same time. The combat, the visuals and the overall art design is fantastic, it's probably one of the best looking games ever and it's gameplay is good enough that I wouldn't feel to crazy when I compare it to something like God of War or Bayonetta. It could have been one of the best games of the generation, but here are the things that held it back.

- The camera is way to jumpy. Either you do what God of War does and have masterful control over the camera or you pull a Bayonetta and allow me to control the camera.

- The Titan fights are absolutely shit. I've never been so bored in 2010. It relies far too much on trial & error and I'd just put down my controller after I've died 10 times and I'd just leave the game for a couple of days.

- I HATE Patrick Stewarts narration. It's just so boring and I'd much rather just mute the TV and read it myself in Morgan Freemans voice.

- The game can get tedious sometimes while travelling around.

These are my problems and they all seem to be the problems of an inexperienced developer. Mercury Steam have made a huge step with their portfolio by creating a gorgeous game that plays well and has an interesting lore around it, but things like the camera, the boring titan fights and just overall length of time doing nothing are rookie mistakes that are rarely made by more experienced developers like Platinum or Sony Santa Monica.

Bet with Conegamer and AussieGecko that the PS3 will have more exclusives in 2011 than the Wii or 360... or something.

And just for the record

If you say "This is Castlevania in name only" then I'm going to be forced to assume that you never played a Castlevania before Symphony of the Night

You have been warned.

Also I beat the game. That was a good game. Now to complete it, and play it periodically for a long time.

@Doobie_wop: Stop being terrible at fighting Titans.

Castlevania also will have DLC coming this year, so I dont think I'll be giving the game back to Gamestop any time soon.

The game is great, but the Cinematic immersion could've been brushed up on. What I mean by that is that at times i felt detached from the storyline because they are so short and automatically you pop up at some far point of the map which the cinematics never worked to connect. This is where GOW3 and Uncharted have the right idea. The gameplay was spot on and the story was great. As I said, the cinematics could've made the story a blowout.

Actually I think there was almost total continuity between areas once you got past the first three or four chapters. I could be wrong but there's a really long string of areas in the latter half where one area picks up where the last left off.

First of all, Rondo of Blood is where the casltevania series started to turn from a straightforward action game, not Symphony.

Judging by your posts here and in the past, Ill take a stab and guess that he is not a Metroidvania fan at all and thats fine.

Its all fine to think that Super Castlevania IV is where the series peaked, but pretending that 15 years of castlevania gameplay evolution which came after it doesn't make up the castlevania universe as much if not more so than the first 5 years which is kind of wrong.

If you play all of the main castlevania games from 1986 to 2009, you can see the gameplay revolution and refinement in the series...until you get to this one, which throws everything that is current Castlevania away and takes cues from other popular current franchises.

So yeah, it isn't Castlevania and I've played al of them.

Id probably give it less slack for if they tried to come up with something completely new like Resident Evil 4 did...but sadly they didn't.

My thoughts are exactly the same.
