I both love and kind of hate the game at the same time. The combat, the visuals and the overall art design is fantastic, it's probably one of the best looking games ever and it's gameplay is good enough that I wouldn't feel to crazy when I compare it to something like God of War or Bayonetta. It could have been one of the best games of the generation, but here are the things that held it back.
- The camera is way to jumpy. Either you do what God of War does and have masterful control over the camera or you pull a Bayonetta and allow me to control the camera.
- The Titan fights are absolutely shit. I've never been so bored in 2010. It relies far too much on trial & error and I'd just put down my controller after I've died 10 times and I'd just leave the game for a couple of days.
- I HATE Patrick Stewarts narration. It's just so boring and I'd much rather just mute the TV and read it myself in Morgan Freemans voice.
- The game can get tedious sometimes while travelling around.
These are my problems and they all seem to be the problems of an inexperienced developer. Mercury Steam have made a huge step with their portfolio by creating a gorgeous game that plays well and has an interesting lore around it, but things like the camera, the boring titan fights and just overall length of time doing nothing are rookie mistakes that are rarely made by more experienced developers like Platinum or Sony Santa Monica.
Bet with Conegamer and AussieGecko that the PS3 will have more exclusives in 2011 than the Wii or 360... or something.
