I think of it like this; playing a sword fighting game, would I rather swing my empty hand ? or would I rather swing something with a bit of weight to it to add to the realism?
Tifa got MOVES!

Yeah but swinging a remote or move control imo doesnt really show the correct weight thus being pretty inaccurate as well. That is why the only option for Kinect for external devices is if you have one the game shouldnt penalise you for it. For example you use a toy lightsaber for example, that should be fine to use in the starwars kinect game for example.
| ArnoldRimmer said: Not sure about this. A Controller for Kinect would be an optional add-on for an optional add-on. And Microsoft would in a way admit that the initial version of Kinect is a half-baked concept that doesn't really work for most games. And with Kinect already being considered an improved EyeToy, adding a controller would seem like completely copying the Playstation Move concept. So I think Microsoft is not going to release a controller for Kinect. They will instead wait until the release of the next Xbox, which I believe will ship with a Kinect-like sensor and two separated controllers for both hands, just like Wii Remote and PS Move. |
So essentially you agree in some capacity as long as its next gen.
| AussieGecko said: nah dont see it, controllers would be going backwards, and for those that have Kinect would be kinda ripped off in having to get a control as well. No chance in hell |
I don't see any growth for kinect besides simplistic hand and body movement in one area. How will they remedy this?

The same can be said for Move and Remote though as shown by Dance Central, Dance Central simply tests by camera ,as long as all games can be used in this fashion there simply is no need for buttons.
In fact the potential for that reason imo is much much higher.

Actually, MS hasn't proven Sony wrong at all. They just proved the power of simplicity can win over the masses. Thats about it. Kinect is a media hub as well as a casual gaming experience. This is its true power. I've read reviews and played Kinect in the mall at Macy's. Most reviews of Kinect's titles show massive restriction but moderately high replay value already. You and your partner are scanned into the camera and fixed into a box in which you're restricted to have your motions read. I know Kinect will outsell the Move, this isn't my problem. My problem is that I see no growth. If it was capable of growth Sony would've had it by now.

The Move and Kinect are going to make playing Just Dance and its ilk obsolete on that console. It's only a matter of time until the people begin to notice. Nintendo will be forced to survive with newer titles that harness the power of the Wii mote because they have no scanning technology.

Kinect has 3D depth which takes your movement, but confines you to a box space (especially in order to make room for multiplayer). It separates you from the background better than the original Eye Toy ever did. This doesnt mean you can actually navigate in 3D space without roller coaster movement. Kinect has proven nothing yet in that scheme of things.

Actually the move control is the most accurate control for the movement he speaks of bro. That controller demands more movement than even the Wii. This is why Sony is getting No More Heroes and Microsoft isn't but yet it can handle the full value of a Just Dance type of game much like Microsoft can. Take Eye Pet for instance, it is a title where you could probably use your hands alone in the game; however, for accuracy in taking care of your pet with a hose or something with wash it the move controller is a welcomed addition. This way with the accuracy no work is done for you but you still get the casual experience.

Kinect is proven it can do certain things that Move cant as well. For example Dance Central. Both consoles motion controls seem to be doing wonderful things. 3D space can possibly do wonderful things. Again we have seen the started of games of both controls. Give it at least 6months to 12 months till you try to disprove what one type of control needs. Kinect as a basis is mainly different to what we have seen, yes it may be at its limit, but it has a chance of being much much more
