For the people saying the ORANGE box is terrible on the ps3, its not.I bought it its amazing and runs well(better than assassins creed's framerate by a mile).
Without a doubt Portal should of got Best Innovation award. I don't understand why halo 3 got it.

Regardless of the so called frame-rate issues, I will probably get Orange Box eventually... hey! its Half life we're talking about here ;).
Anyway, all of the above is off-topic :P.

Yeah that is totally comparable to Portal changing almost every core game mechanic.
this only proves how much i disprove of edge.........
Game of the year is fine (Runner up should be bioshock, sept they didnt really like it.......nor mass effect)
With regard to Call of Duty 4 having an ultra short single player campaign, I guess it may well have been due to the size limitations of DVD on the XBox 360, one of various limitations multi-platform game designers will have to take into consideration-Mike B

Damn things have changed since 2009 began. Here are my new visions for the end of the generation.
Wii: 135 mil
Ps3: 85 mil
360: 60 mil
Portal probably shoulda beat Halo 3. Still Halo 3 did have a decent amount of innovation.
