Ok then, it's just that you made it sound like it was that way.
I like the idea of tablet use for RTS games.

I think we've made progress. We've brought you from saying "No, it's the holiday boost" to "I never said it was only the Holiday boost".
So, now that you've presented a somewhat credible fact that child-friendly games get bigger sales boosts during the holidays, please explain to me why Wii Party and Sonic Colors have not seen the same sales boosts. Do these games not appeal to kids? Didn't Sega say Sonic Colors was targeted at 8 year olds? So why is it not seeing a holiday boost in the same manner as UDraw?
My stance is that Udraw is seeing a larger sales boost because of good word of mouth (not from critics but from customers like Just Dance from last year), and effective advertising. It is not just seasonality. It leads me to believe that it will have significant sales even after the holidays.
Also, the original topic of this thread actually presented the idea that the sales increase may be due to easing supply restrictions, which is also plausible.
Udraw is still going to hit the wall when the holiday wears off. It's a lot of seasonality.

These are both true, but insufficient. Look at the other titles released about the same time, whether big releases or small releases, established IP's or new. None of them have a sales pattern of continuous sales growth. This is something you only see with titles like, well, Just Dance for example.
A game I'm developing with some friends:

It is largely a technical exercise but feedback is appreciated.
Udraw will continue to sell well long into the early months of 2011 and I imagine the tablet as a platform will be a very successful venture for THQ. VGC sales are good but the success of this thing was pretty obvious the moment THQ shares jumped up a few days before it's release - by that point they already knew they'd struck oil.
It's just a really well designed producted placed perfectly in the market and positioned perfectly for word of mouth and focused marketing to sell it for many weeks to come, like Just Dance. Now it just needs to come to Europe where it'll really thrive...
Week 6 rise over week 5. Only game to have a rise week over week that long?
While I think there is some elements of holiday shopping associated with the size of its sales, I would say that this title is seeing steady sales increases because it is a really good idea with broad appeal and they underestimated demand. I don't want to make any unrealistic predictions, or make unreasonable comparisons, but I think this title may see steady sales for a long time like many of Nintendo's evergreen games; especially, if the tablet can get significant support and receives interesting games.
uDraw's sales remind me of Art Academy in Japan actually, started low but it kept selling and actually increasing. Same sort of "game" too actually. I dunno if it'll drop off entirely after the holidays, but for now it seems to have captured that casual zeitgeist that tends to drive DS/Wii games pretty far with the mainstream. I'm not expecting a Brian-Age, Wii Fit or Just Dance, but maybe a Cooking Navi, Style Savvy or Sports Active?
