Forums - Nintendo - Will Nintendo have new IPs for 2008?

Damn you people!  Why'd you have to go mentioning pikmin?

That game is like crack to me.......I had almost forgotten and life was cruising along great...within 12 hours I am gonna look like this guy..

Waiting for the release of a new pikmin game makes life too hard, my only option now is to bludgeon myself until I forget why I was doing it....if I don't post again for a while you know why.../sigh

I think If nintendo are developing a new IP, they wont announce it untill its very established. I read that miyamoto has been known to can a game months into development if he thinks it isnt going to work.

No doubt they will come out with something, but even if they didnt, I wouldnt be too disapointed, no developer (except perhaps sega) has released so many different games.

since when is a manga character developing games that are being published by Ninty? Dem must be some serious stuff.

So yeah I guess Im being a wiseguy in pointing out that it should be Arika.

You're not going to see any new IP's from Nintendo that are actualy good. Instead, most of their new IP's will probably be casual games. Nintendo's main priority -- the one where they're trying to tap into the casulal market -- comes before high quality gaming. That's why you're not seeing a bunch of new, high quality IP's like the PS3 and 360 get. Most people understand that, and that's why alot of hardcore gamers don't go Wii only. You have to have another system to go with it. Both the 360 and PS3 will probably get price drops in 08. When they do, you guys should be able to pick one up for a good price.

Excuse me? WiiSports is a very fine new IP. So will be WiiFit (I think). You think that we will get good new NINTENDO IPs that are "hardcore" appearing on the PS3? What makes you think so?

Also, who is saying we cannot afford a PS3? Are you serious? Maybe people choose not to buy one?

Who says casual games cannot be quality?

I've got another question for y'all besides the new IP thing!

Why isn't Nintendo attracting A LOT of younger talent or at least trying to expand (They only have like 3000 people who're working for Nintendo...). I know they just bought Monolith but those guys are making Billions of dollar profit every month/year so i don't get why they aren't targeting for more internal studios and trying to get talent in their corner so they can start making more new IP's or focus on more balance between Casual/Hardcore games...

C'mon, saying Nintendo isn't caring about quality a few weeks after they released the most critically acclaimed game for about a decade is pure blasphemy.

Currently Playing: Skies of Arcadia Legends (GC), Dragon Quest IV (DS)

Last Game beaten: The Rub Rabbits(DS)

expansion is inevitable, however, they will do it the same way that do everything: slow and conservative.  nintendo is suppose to have one of the best environment to work on games (free of the constraints of places like EA) and they will want to maintain that.  The key to maintaining that is expanding in a manageable way, not exploding by hiring anyone and everyone that interviews.

wii fit wii music and disaster day of crisis are what i can think of but im sure even some more will come out
