Cool stalking, bro, but I don't think that that "fag" is in the same league as "fuck".

Funny you ask if he even knows what the term "alcoholic" means, when you indicate that a certain amount of drinks is classified as not being an alcoholic.  It has absolutely nothing to do with the quantity of alcohol that you consume.  Alcoholism has to do with how your consumption of alcohol is affecting your life.

You initially made it sound as if her drinking "2-4 drinks on the majority of nights" was the reason for classifying her as an alcoholic, or was extremely relevant in your classification of her as an alcoholic.

(EDIT: I should really check all of the replies...)

I could sympathise if she were; having a child like you must make her want to drown her sorrows every night.

None of the above.

I drink simply as a mood and social enhancer.

Not everyone who drinks is a raging alcoholic. The vast majority of people aren't.

You are right, not everyone is a raging alcoholic.  But more people are classified as alcoholics than you may think.  If we look at just Americans, the numbers I'm seeing indicate ~7-8% of Americans are alcoholics (Over 20 million).  Considering only 67% of American adults (18 years and older, ~150 million people) drink alcohol.  If we exclude minors, and assume the full 7-8% are adults, that would mean 13.3% of people who consume alcohol are alcoholics.  Now, I'm sure minors would constitute a portion of the alcoholics, but the point still gets across that a pretty big portion of people are actually alcoholics.

Moderate amounts reduces the risk of, diabetes, gall stones and amnesia.

May I ask what you consider moderate amounts?  I know I've heard 1 a day for woman and 2 a day for men can be very beneficial towards one's health.  But please don't tell me you mean any more than that, because my mom has 2-4 drinks on a majority of nights, and I consider her an alcoholic.

The whole "roughly one pints of beer a day" or equivalent comes from British doctors pulling extremely conservative figures out of their arse when pressed by the government.

2 or 4 drinks per night is not alcoholic unless she has a shockingly low tolerance. Grow up.

Grow up?  Alcoholism is something that causes interference in any major life functions, including social.  My father has gotten so sick and tired of her drinking, he randomly talks to me sometimes about how he doesn't know how much longer they can last together.  I just go downstairs and play video games and browse the internet pretty much every night, all night, because I cannot stand the way my mom acts when she's drinking.  This means I don't get to hang around with my dad nearly as much as I would like to because he sits in the living room with my mom.

There's some tests on the internet that I have essentially filled out to see what she is considered.  If 1 question is answered yes, there is a definite warning you may be an alcoholic, and if 2 or more are answered yes, there is a high chance you are considered an alcoholic.  One of the questions involves whether the drinking affects your family relationship.  There were about 2 or 3 others that I wasn't quite sure, as well as several that I couldn't answer for her since I don't know whether it affects that aspect of her life.

Regardless, it is alcohol alone that is affecting our family relationships.  So, I have to ask, what exactly would you consider this, since saying it is alcoholism just gets an ignorant response that I need to grow up.

unless she's a small woman, getting drunk after 2-4 drinks is an alarm that her liver is gonna fucking die, seek professional help.

You made it sound as if her drinking "2-4 drinks on the majority of nights" was the reason for classifying her as an alcoholic, or was extremely relevant in your classification of her as an alcoholic.

So tell us, what makes her an alcoholic? Does she depend on alcohol to get her through the day? Does she find it impossible to go for more than a few days without it? Does getting drunk regularly get in the way of her having a normal life?

It's hard to see any of that happening to someone who drinks that little, but in any case, you have presented no evidence of her being an alcoholic other than how much she drinks, therefore we can only assume that she is not actually an alcoholic.

I could sympathise if she were; having a child like you must make her want to drown her sorrows every night.

I actually provided perfectly good evidence.  Her drinking quite significantly affects our overall family relationship.  This is a pretty major indication of being an alcoholic.  I also have very good reason to believe a lot of her drinking is an attempt to get through shitty parts of her day at work, which when you need to do this to cope with work nearly every day, I also think is an indication of being an alcoholic.

I don't understand why you have to act as if I'm a crappy piece of shit just because the way I feel about alcohol.  My concerns about my mother being an alcoholic are quite legit, and research on what all is considered alcoholism matches quite well with what I am trying to say.

This is no evidence at all. For all we know, it might just be that your father is making a mountain out of a molehill; perhaps he's the one who has a problem?

You have presented no real evidence of her being an alcoholic. An internet test certainly isn't going to convince me.

Do you realise that you just backed up the point you're trying to refute? Your stats say that 86.7% of Americans who drink alcohol are not alcoholics. That's the vast majority.

Understand I'm not talking about raging drunk.  I'm talking about the obvious buzz sort of drunk that she gets.  If she has more on the high side of that, such as 4, she sometimes gets a little slurry and may mess up our name sometimes, but she isn't like puking and blacking out drunk.

If you are that concerned about her drinking, get her on weed instead, it's nowhere near as harmful and acts as a very strong relaxant, see if you can get them legally by going to the shrink first, if that doesn't work, find some dealers instead.
