You made it sound as if her drinking "2-4 drinks on the majority of nights" was the reason for classifying her as an alcoholic, or was extremely relevant in your classification of her as an alcoholic.

So tell us, what makes her an alcoholic? Does she depend on alcohol to get her through the day? Does she find it impossible to go for more than a few days without it? Does getting drunk regularly get in the way of her having a normal life?

It's hard to see any of that happening to someone who drinks that little, but in any case, you have presented no evidence of her being an alcoholic other than how much she drinks, therefore we can only assume that she is not actually an alcoholic.

I could sympathise if she were; having a child like you must make her want to drown her sorrows every night.

I actually provided perfectly good evidence.  Her drinking quite significantly affects our overall family relationship.  This is a pretty major indication of being an alcoholic.  I also have very good reason to believe a lot of her drinking is an attempt to get through shitty parts of her day at work, which when you need to do this to cope with work nearly every day, I also think is an indication of being an alcoholic.

I don't understand why you have to act as if I'm a crappy piece of shit just because the way I feel about alcohol.  My concerns about my mother being an alcoholic are quite legit, and research on what all is considered alcoholism matches quite well with what I am trying to say.
