What's the point of drinking, the point of being DRUNK?!

I do it because I am stupid 36 11.73%

It helps me forget about my problems 36 11.73%

It's just an addiction 26 8.47%

Shut up kid! You don't know JACK-in-the-box! 102 33.22%

Other eccentric reason... 59 19.22%

I'm drunk right now..HOL... 47 15.31%

I already said why I drink very occasionally (small amount, less than once a month - because some drinks taste good) but I personally find it sad when people can't have a good time without drinking. It just shows how scared some people are of letting loose or looking silly.

@Farmageddon:

People have fun drinking. They feel good.

That's the manipulation talking. How exactly does drinking make them feel fine? Isn't it really a self fulfilling prophecy?

And don't fool yourself, there's social pressure against drinking as well.

It doesn't typically come from the entouragem and that's the one that matters.

The situation of being excluded from a group because you don't drink is usually not quite like that, unless among assholes, in which case drinking is not the problem anyway.

It probably sounded exaggerated, but it definately feel awkward when you're a non-drinker around drinkers, and while they may not say it out loud, the drinkers are somewhat bothered by the presence of the non-drinker also.

Let me list a few reasons for walking:

- Everyone does it. People who don't walk are treated as different and are ostracised.

- Since we're born we see our parents walk and we want to imitate them.

- Walking has a significant hole in social rituals.

None of these are good reasons. So I suppose you don't walk either?

Your list is simply bogus.

You're so much of an alcoholic that you equate drinking with walking? Is it that important in your life? I just hate it when people make bad comparisons, ment to decieve people.

Btw, you wouldn't take half a beer for him/her? You really think half a beer would do you any bad? Or is it just by principle? Or lack of drive? :P

I don't drink. Is that so hard to understand? I don't let myself be pressured into drinking, certainly not by some bimbo. Oh, and I've tasted beer, and it sucked.

Saying you do something because you have fun doing so is very different from saying you need to do this to have fun.

Ok, I get it, you're not being serious at all, are you? I mean, you can't really believe alcohool has no effect on your mind, can you?

And don't fool yourself, there's social pressure against drinking as well.

It doesn't typically come from the entouragem and that's the one that matters.

You're oversimplifying the "issue" to fit you agenda :P

People are a lot more diverse and a lot less charicate across the board.

The situation of being excluded from a group because you don't drink is usually not quite like that, unless among assholes, in which case drinking is not the problem anyway.

Nah, they're not. Some may be, but it's far from a rule. It sucks when there are too few drinkers with most people not drinking. Whoever is in the minority in these situations should try to fit in and not be bothered with or look down at the rest, but that's how it works for just about everything.

Point is, maybe you don't have fun around drunk people when you're sober, lot's of people don't, but it's not like most social interactions happen when people are drunk anyway. Lots of people go by just nice not drinking and still having friends who do.

Let me list a few reasons for walking:

You're so blind you can't see my point? I'm saying walking is obviously very important, and even it can be "analized" as you did for alcohool and give you the same results. I used something so obviously important in the hope it would be clear just how off and ilogical your reasoning is: you can't get an arbitrary, biased and very partial list of possible reasons for something and say it's good or bad based on that.

Besides, what kind of question is that. Everybody knows drinking and walking don't go along very well.

This part is part joke in case you haven't noticed :P

Still, no, I can't really understend it lol

Anyway, go back up to the first part of this reply. If your answer there is "yes, I'm actually being serious" then well, there's the problem. You have absolutely no idea what you're talking about.

I'd have to totally agree with your final statement...beer is terrible.  Every time I tell somebody that, I get the following response: "It's kinda an acquired taste."  What the hell does that even mean...after drinking a horrible tasting drink for a wihle you just get over the horribleness of it?

Spphi and Dany, I have a question for you guys.

Say there's this girl, hot as can be, amazing body, unbelievably pretty with those dreammy eyes, a girl so perfect to your tastes you can barely believe your sight. Take the girl you most wanted in your life and imagine she's at most ok compared to this one. (oh, you can swap her with a guy if you want)

Now this girl you do any and everything with you. Everything. There's just a single catch. You have to share a beer with her. Justthe one, and it'd be shared. Would you do it?

Btw, shes on your lap, rubing herself against you in the most exciting way imaginable, and you have to decide now. Drink or walk away?

first of all that would never happen. I would walk away anyways. Girls are overrated (starts laughing)

You've never acquired a taste for something? You eat/drink something that you initially don't like, but as you eat/drink more the intricacies of the flavour come out and you start enjoying it (acquiring the taste).

Happens to me for lots of things: goats cheese (actually most cheeses), eggs, red wine, English mustard etc.

I suppose that makes a little more sense, but to be honest, it doesn't usually happen for me.

You know, I was thinking about it and I bet most other assexual forms of life don't drink either :)

Oh, btw, I love your optimism :P
