I wish I could find some sort of discussion forum to discuss economics specifically. i have some theories I have been working on in my spare time regarding economics. Number one is that I believe that economists aren't seeing all the issues, because of a failure to model economic activity without the use of currency and prices.

It wouldn't be bad to have a forum for economics in general ...
On what you're thinking of, I have been thinking of something similar for different reasons. The measuring of GDP and Economic growth in modern times is done in such a way that it doesn't factor in the actual value of economic activity, and this leads to decisions being made to encourage economic activity which is (ultimately) worthless. The ultimate example of worthless economic activity comes from John Maynard Keynes suggestion that people should be paid to dig ditches and fill them in again, but building homes that will remain vacant (or cause another perfectly good home to be vacant) isn't much different.

I guess, to expand the definition of "malconsumption" I would also factor in the digging of pointless ditches in the mix (my thought was originally just dumb consumer buying). It is consumption that is not sustainable, once easy credit and handouts are lifted. In addition, malconsumption will drop to the wayside when people start to make sense of their budgets and decide to stop buying pointless junk. I believe the inspiration for malconsumption by me (the term I thought of later) was a battery operated rodent that sings "Blue Suade Shoes" that I found on clearance at Burlington Coat Factory.
What you speak on would connect to stuff I am currently pondering about, about modeling economic activity without bringing currency in. Fundamentals of real wealth need to be in place, for there to be sustained economic growth. These fundamentals exist, even if there is no currency in the market. People can resort to barter. It will be interesting if paper wealth continues to increase and exceed physical wealth, if things would become more susceptable to suddent changes in mood and worry by people.
I don't think VGChartz would be a place to have such a general forum for economics, or even politics. This is a videogame forum, and offtopic is kind of like a water cooler where you just shoot the breeze about whatever. Need to find another place to ponder these things.
I'm just glad Canada wasn't crushed as bad as other countries. If we increase trade and investment in foreign markets we could be invicible for awhile. Problem is we rely on buisness from the states to much so when their economy tanks ours gets hit too.

By the way, here is a suggestion for a discussion forum to discuss economics:
http://www.facebook.com/EconStoriesTV
The producers of the video have a Facebook group up with a discussion forum. That likely is a good place to go. I did post theories and speculations I have on the nature of the economy.
