Forums - Gaming - Question: why do people respond seriously to Pachter?

I mean, he's Lanced Jack without the anime reaction images. A more obvious troll does not exist in the world of gaming journalism.

So why do I see so many people assume he's being serious and either fly into a rage or call him incompetent/stupid? I feel as if I've taken a trip back in time to the early 2000s, when everything on the internet was srs bsns, 4chan didn't exist and the average internet user didn't even know what a troll was. True, I get that feeling of being back in a more innocent yet angry period of the internet's history with a lot of things I see people post on these forums, but the Pachter stuff really takes the biscuit. Are the people who get angry with him new to the intertubes? They remind me of the angry commenters to this hilarious and obviously non-serious article, back in the days when trolling was like shooting fish in a barrel. (srsly, check out the comments; the responses from people who can't tell it's a joke are even funnier than the joke itself).

Actually, I don't know why I'm complaining. The more people that get trolled by Pachter, the more money he'll make and the more articles he'll write. And that's not a bad thing: it's a good thing.*

*I've just had a severe mindfuck. Is it me, or does trollface look a lot like Diamond Dallas Page? Is there some "Page"rism going on? :3

Because I'm a fanboy

Like many, he trolls for hits, and many people are sensitive to respond to the stupid of his, is an automatic action from people to try to combat everything that is stupid out there(in their visions at least).

Above: still the best game of the year.

He voices his opinion in public forums leaving it up for criticism eventhough it is not his job to voice his opinion on the "small stuff."

According to Pachter his job is:

My job is primarily to advise investors, and by investors I mean big mutual funds and hedge funds. Our smaller accounts maybe have $100m under management and then all the way up obviously to several hundred billion. The average average is easily $1bn. I talk to guys who manage billions of dollars, and my job is to help them make better investment decisions.

The question I have is, why does Michael Pachter voice his opinion so much on the "small stuff" like predictions of individual game sales or recommending features such as a Wii HD?

I didn't know you could have a space in your name.

Because people ask him his thoughts on the 'small stuff' in various interviews and GameTrailer TV show things...

He's psychic. Wii try to resist, but wii can't.

Stwike him, Centuwion. Stwike him vewy wuffly! (Pontius Pilate, "Life of Brian")
A fart without stink is like a sky without stars.

I bet they invite Pachter on because Pachter's wife bakes a delicious, delectable batch of the softest ginger bread cookies. Over milk and cookies, Pachter is too intoxicated with sugar from his sugar and can't help but answer a few questions. Is that what the "..." was alluding to?

emotional fanboys is all it is really

Because hes a cool guy. Have you ever heard of any analyst who was as cool as he is?

Tease.
