I didnt think it was anything special, if you swapped the characters for original characters nobody would care about it at all. Its story was dreadful, very childish. |
As was Galaxy 2. Does that make it mediocre?
I've played Brawl for around 250 hours now, and have never thought it was "mediocre"
Name me a fighting game with a good story then. I assume Melee wasn't any better in your eyes then

This game deserves better trolls willing to put more effort into their work than you.

You play fighting games for the story?
............
You do realize that a fair portion of Wii games are usually meant to be arcade-ish and aimed at old school gamers, right?
You want blockbuster titles, play the HD consoles.

Mind you, that could be said for all Super Smash Bros titles. Like it or not, they mainly sell on the whole "Nintendo reunion!" idea, :P.
And I actually found the game superior to Melee to be honest, though that's probably because I'm "casual".

Clearly no fighting audience on the Wii, well done Capcom.

Galaxy 2 had good gameplay though.
Tekken has a good overall story as a series, Dissidia had a decent story though that also had mediocre gameplay, Dragon Ball Z and Naruto games have a decent story.
But with Brawl it involved a bunch of people who cant speak any dialogue, getting turned into trophies by a gun that shot arrows, and fighting a hand and then a Tron wannabe. perhaps the characters should you know talk, like with other games.

I play them for the gameplay, of which Brawl was even mediocre in that department aswell.

Considering the story mode is basically just a value-added feature (the original two SSB didn't have it, nor do most fighting games really) with a ton of great cut scenes, it was really just a gift to the fans. No one bought Brawl for that, they bought it for the fighting in which it's excellent.
If you bought it thinking it's a platformer I can understand you're disappointment.
OT: Congrats SSBB! About time but couldn't have happened to a better game. Has over 350 hrs of playtime. Just added some more last night actually.
