No software will push hardware sales to any measurable degree of signifigance.  All hardware sales will be driven by current library and understanding that the consoles are still being supported by new software (1st, 2nd and 3rd party).

Kinect will continue to be in demand and X360 will have its best year and will have a price change most likely next September.

PS3 will continue at about the same level and will have a price change most likely next September.

Wii will revert back to the trend it was seeing over the summer and fall until the holidays and all the special deals kicked in.  Next holiday Wii will not experience the turnaround it did this holiday.  Word of mouth for Kinect and Move will make the general public be aware that not only is Wii not the only motion control system available, but in fact Move and Kinect are superior motion control systems. Official price reduction will happen likely next September.



Its libraries that sell systems not a single game.

Makes no sense to cut the price that early, especially before the summer drought, cutting in the latter periods of the year september seems like a plausible solution,  I am not 100% sure on PS3 being able to afford a price cut, Wii has alot of wiggle room, and 360 price cut is highly possible too, but probably in October/November area.


The earliest I can see them cutting price is mid April to compensate for the lack of exclusives and Kinect titles at that time being.

Edit : Oh shit. How the fuck could I forget E3 ?! The earliest I can see MS cutting price now is in late August - early September.

PS3:

  • Will sell OK during Jan/Feb.
  • WIll sell VERY GREAT during off-season
  • Will sell well during holidays but not (much) better than X360 and certainly not better than Wii.
  • Holidays will be great due to UN3 TM R3 Price Cut.
X60:
  • Will sell well during Jan/Feb 
  • Sales will fall in the off-season (like 2009) unless Kinect gets heavy support, or something else.
  • Will sell great during holidays due to Kinect Gears Price Cut.
Wii
  • Will sell well in Jan/Feb but will drop off during around Mar.

Here's a breakdown on how I see things planning out.

 

Quarter  Sales
Jan - Mar Wii > PS3 = X360
Apr - Jun PS3 > X360 = Wii
July - Sept PS3 > X360 > Wii
Oct - Nov Wii > X360 > PS3

I also like to note that Killzone 3 will push consoles.... Yeah I said it.

Not trying to flame here but, I think it will be interesting to see how hardcore gamers react to Kinect and PS3's exclusives.

As for 3DS and PSP:

3DS = 10(PSP)


So you think end of 2010 will be 48M for PS3, 51M for 360 and 84M for Wii? looking likely.

No Ps3 will be at 46m
