This all sounds just awful.

Not sure how you can blame Obama for it though.

Blame him for not trying to stop it sure...

But I don't think you can say he was grabbing for power.

There is attempts at grabbing power and shredding the Constitution going back for awhile.  I will let others say it started earlier than the Clinton administration, but you see Carnivoire, Ruby Ridge and Waco under the Clinton Administration.  The most recent Bush administration also played a bunch of this to. You had Muslim extremists against globalization (and connecting the United States with it) being made out to be a greater threat than the former Soviet Union, and with this came a bunch of compromises.  And now it continues under Obama.  One can then say maybe it isn't either Bush Jr. or Obama's fault, but the powers that be doing it.  I just wish media types would stop with the partisan cheerleading here, and being inconsistent regarding all this.

Agreed. The government has been stealthfully stripping Americans of their liberties for awhile, it goes beyond just Obama or Bush. They are just puppets. This is why I don't like the idea of parties, because they pit people against eachother and single candidates while diverting people from the root of the issues.

Around the Network

Firstly, this isn't a law no matter how many times people in this thread call it one. It's a regulatory action.

Secondly, it is most certainly a power grab. Not by "teh skeery gubmint", but by the FCC. The courts have told them that this is beyond their scope, but they insist on ignoring that. Whether or not you think net neutrality is a good idea is pretty irrelevant.

It's only the advent of cheap broadband this century that brought the internet to the masses. In this sense the internet is very young, in comparison to television, radio, press etc.

In time the internet too will become heavily regulated. It is a certainty.

@Metallicube

You are so right. The thing is these legislations that take away our freedoms are "sneaked" through with little fanfare so that the general public are never aware of them.

There was a website that listed them all (in the US). I was amazed.

Jesus Christ, anyone who is against this net neutrality law should have their head checked.

The FCC is protecting consumers, small business owners, and keeping the internet fair and balanced but somehow they're the BAD GUYS?

/facepalm

I just don't know what to think about this country any more. This is ridiculous.

It is supposed to be a "power grab" by Obama.  You know, that evil dictator that came into office in 2009, and now wants to turn everyone into his pawns to produce some sort of socialist utopia where they "spread the wealth around", and seek to deny the Joe the Pumbers of the world their chance at the American dream with regulations increasing, and also raising tax rates a few percentage points on money that Joe isn't even close to making at this time.  Just say "Obama power grab" and you will freak people out.  Even I didn't realize this was a spin against net neutrality by the subject header.
