very succesfull based on the fact that it will be a phone

The latest issue of Game Informer reveled that Sony is working on two seperate devices, one of which will be the rumored Playstation phone. Don't know if that can be elevated above rumor for now, but it seemed enough information to go into print so that might say something.

yeah cause it will be like ipod and iphone

Imposible to know at the moment.

I'm actually talking about multiple leaks concerning dev kits and preliminary hardware, and really none of them are likely to change when it comes to the final product.  Except the Uncharted Portable thing, which really is just a rumor afaik.

Obviously there's going to be more to PSP2 than we know now (hell, there's going to be a lot more to 3DS than we know now even)... but as of now, we still know at least something.

Personally, given what we know (and where the leaks seem to be originating) I think PSP2's big push is going to be with western devs rather than the Japanese.  With dual analog now, I can see lots of publishers wanting to push handheld FPS to the American market especially... COD on PSP2 could be huge.

multiple leaks?  there's been one leak showin the dev kit in blurry pics which we have no idea if real or not.

Dual analog is the most requested feature psp fan have had since the system was released from both fans and developers, it has nothing to do with japan as it will get tons of support there.

Kotaku and IGN had different sources for their leak articles iirc.  We've only gotten the blurry dev-kit shots from one, but that's not all I based what I said off of.  We also gotten accidental confirmations from multiple devs (even on record) that PSP2 kits are out in the wild and have been awhile.

I think PSP2's JP support really hinges on securing MH exclusively.  Kojima and Nomura have already seemingly embraced 3DS full force, and they were arguably PSP's biggest cheerleaders in Japan.

At least I know what you pray God for, MH is not going to leave the PSP, why is that an issue?

Why would they restrict themselves to the 3DS though?

I think we have to wait till we see the official PSP before judging. It's easy to now throw prediction without knowing the features or support of the PSP2. It all depends

Oh, I'm not 100% sure they will, and I'd be more surprised if we never saw anything from them PSP2... but them pledging their biggest brands for 3DS before it even launches gives a pretty good indication.  Last gen this sort of support was pledged to PSP initially (see Crisis Core, MGAC!D, etc), and while eventually Nomura and Kojima did a few DS titles, they were pretty low tier brands (Lunar Knights), original experiments (Stock Trader Shun) outsourced (Kingdom Hearts) or some combination of that (TWEWY).  Next handheld gen, it looks like the shoe's on the other foot, and 3DS is getting the sorts of JP games one would naturally expect from a PlayStation platform upfront (Ridge Racer, Ace Combat, Musou, Metal Gear, PES, Tales, Kingdom Hearts, etc, etc)... that really can't be good for PSP2's prospects, for a competitor to get the sorts of games they're largely known for.   It's a bit like 360 and PS3 this gen, Microsoft's inroads into Sony's usually dependable 3rd party catalogue definitely made a big dent in the HD battle.

There's no doubt the PSP2 has a major uphill battle, but if it can retain exclusives from big third party franchises (granted costs aren't that high), then I don't think it'll be too big a problem.

Well, if it's true that it will be a phone, it will recieve massive sales, but that will be more from people using the non-gaming features. If we're talking in terms of actual GAME sales, I think it will perform even more poorly than the PSP.

Nope the PSP2 and the PSPhone (now called Zeus Z1) are two different things.

Hmm I didn't know that, I stand corrected..

So Sony is actually gonna support TWO handheld gaming devices? Interesting to see how they will pull that off..

Yeah. Right now, I just wonder how much money it's costing them.
