Well, everyone knows that the "fat" PS3 models have 3 vents. 1 in the back, which blows hot air out of the console. 1 in the right, which I believe sucks cold air into the console. 1 in the front, which I believe also sucks cold air into the console.

If I put my hand on the vent in the back, I can feel hot air comming out of the console. I can also feel cold air getting into the console when I put my hand on the vent in the right.

The problem is that I can't feel cold air getting into the console when I put my hand in the front vent... I only feel the cold air on the left side of the front vent where the USB ports are... the other parts of the front vent don't seem to be working.

I'm not sure if it's supposed to be like that or not.

Can someone tell me if the whole front vent is supposed to suck cold air in? or does it only do it on the left side where the USBs are? I'm kind of worried since it's hot here and I didn't use to be able to hear the PS3 fans before... but now I can hear them working which means they're working faster than they used to.

So... does the front vent only suck air in where the USBs are (the left side) or not?

i believe sides suck and the back blows. i wouldnt be to concerned if one side isnt really working as long as your system isnt acting odd.

Joking, yes the vents do that depending of the ps3 positions. The PS3 really does suck and blow.

Yeah, maybe I'm worrying too much for nothing... it's just that I think I remember the whole front vent sucking air into the PS3, not just the left side of it and I thought the fans inside probably stopped working or something :S

It sucks in fresh air from one side, and blows out the hot air from the other. 

Yeah, I know it sucks in fresh air from one side (the front vent and the right vent if your PS3 is not standing up) and blows hot air from the other (the vent in the back).

It's just that it seems like only one side of the front vent is working... I've just uploaded a picture so it's easier to understand what I'm trying to say

The part that I circled is where I feel the fresh air getting inside the PS3, I don't feel anything in the rest of the front vent which is why I'm worried it might not be working properly :S

each ps3 is slightly diffrent old 60gbs would suck from back and front and blow out the side

once the 40gb came out they changed it

use tissue paper to see whats going on you may not feel anything by hand

seeing your pic up there i dont think it would suck much any further b/c the BR drive is there no room for ventilation even thought there are vents there but try to use tissue paper in that area once you leave the console on long enough
