Forums - Microsoft - Is kinnect worth it?

Look at this thread already...probably best if only people who actually own the thing respond really... lol

OT

Yes.

Just because you don't own it doesn't mean you can't give your opinion. I have used the technology for a few hours at a friends house. I have given my opinions BASED off of my experience with it.

il be abstaining from kinect, it doesnt have any games i would play

besides almost all kinect games are full price which is a ripp off.

...not much time to post anymore, used to be awesome on here really good fond memories from VGchartz...

PSN: Skeeuk - XBL: SkeeUK - PC: Skeeuk

really miss the VGCHARTZ of 2008 - 2013...

I say give it a few more months until you see a game that genuinely inspired interest in you, like how Sorcery on Move made me shit me self. I hope that's what people have been doing, for MS's sake.

I'd wait in your shoes.  It works well and is fun, but right now there's only two to three good games and while the interface stuff is good it's very limited as not all menus, etc. are supported fully.

I'd wait for a the interface use to be expanded and a few more games if I was you.

Try to be reasonable... its easier than you think...

Personally, I'm waiting for the TGS titles to drop before I decide to purchase Kinect.

Rockstar: Announce Bully 2 already and make gamers proud!

Kojima: Come out with Project S already!

any news on that sex game?

if anything will get me to get a 360/kenict is how much support gt5 gets if they dont add the cars i want (ones that are already in forza 3) with interior views ect. then once forza4 comes out and most likely 360 price cut i'll be very tempted

Not really no, Kinect is a minor advancement on the pseye so minor Sony passed it up in favor of move, which is effectively capable of everything Kinect is and a ton of stuff it isn't, if you plan on waiting for better games to come out for kinect you'll be waiting a very long time since they aren't going to come what you see is what kinect is capable of, alot of people disagree but I ask you this, where are the tech demos? Move has like 4 of them, showing what it can be capable of, ps3 had a ton aswell and even the 360 had a few, if kinect was capable of something more MS would have gave us a glimpse by now, but it's not so they are just pretending it is, anyways it's your call but the tech isn't that impressive MS is just marketing it well

try looking around the internet for what people have done with hacked kinects.  The device is capable of TONS of stuff.  There are some pretty incredible things people are doing with kinect.  Sony saying they passed on the kinect is just marketing mumbo jumbo.  They didn't want to take the risk and they are probably kicking themselves now.

OT:  I have a kinect, and I really like it.   Although, I will admit that a lot of my enjoyment is coming from the wow factor of the new technology (not so much the games actually being all that fun).  The games aren't very good to play by yourself, but are great for party's and the great thing about them is the accessibility for non-gamers (people that have never played a video game in their life).  The wii did a pretty good job about opening that door, but not in the same way that kinect can.  For example, I had my 92 year old grandma playing dance central on thanksgiving to the lady gaga song pokerface.  Needless to say, those pictures are being saved! :)

They haven't done anything amazing, most of the stuff you could do with a pseye, kinect is just more popular so getting more hacks, public perception is easily swayed
