Forums - Microsoft - Kinect is the new Tickle Me Elmo

I just don't see how or why people want to support Kinect, at least not with its current games. I mean honestly, look at those games! Are people serious?

The main thing that irks me is Wii recieved all this undeserving criticising and hate (and still does for many people) despite building up a very respectable library, yet Kinect seems to actually DESERVE much of that same criticism yet does not recieve it from these people. The hypocracy just astounds me.

Wii gets titles like Mario Galaxy, NSMB, Donkey Kong Country, Mario Kart, SSBB, Metroid Prime Trilogy, Little King's Story, Zelda, Kirby, Goldeneye, Monster Hunter Tri, etc, and STILL gets unfair hate from people. Yet Kinect comes out with Your Shape, Joy Ride, and Kinectimals and gets a free pass from people, getting praised as the best thing since sliced bread. I just don't understand it.. I realize much of the praise is most likely from viral marketers trying to influence opinion, but it still gets to me.

That's because Kinect isn't a console, it's an add on made to appeal to casual players. The Wii sacraficed things the hardcore valued such as HD/good graphics, buttons, and accurate controls. If 360 owners don't want casual gaming they can continue playing the stuff they've loved for the past 5 years, and with 360 looking to have it's best lineup ever next year, Kinect support shouldn't bother anyone if the good games are still rolling in.

I guess, but the Wii has plenty of great core games as well.. And the Wiimote is still a relatively normal controller, with buttons.

and really, I don't see that many more good core games rolling in for 360 next year. I see Gears 3 and Elder Scrolls V, and that's about it. Hopefully they announce some more soon.

Oh, and let's not forget Nintendo and the Wii. Just recently EA's CEO John Ricitiello said that Wii sales would explode at $99, so that system also has some good years left in it. And at that price it will absolutely destroy the 360. Not Kinect though, because at that point in time it will be a thing of the past and only remembered as the great christmas fad of 2010. Just like Tickle Me Elmo some years before it.

Must be a lot work insuring the each and every paragraph was full of troll stuffing.

"Everyone likes to call the Wii a mere party machine that people only get out of the closet when friends are over, but how is Kinect any different?"

Not really, no.  Except there's a fully featured, current gen console that its attached to called the Xbox 360 that people will continue to play when the parties over and most of the Kinect games get put away.

But then I read the rest of your rant and your hopeless bias against Microsoft is hopeless.  Have a nice life.

Hey, at least I didn't compare Kinect to the Sega 32X like some other dude. You have to give me credit for that.

rofl XD

And for the record, I agree with Viper1, both are similar and the WiiFit board got support from many game publishers too, I remember a snowboarding game that used it and a marble saga game too... oh what the heck: just click here

I worry that Kinect games might be TOO hardcore for our children.  Kinectimals is rated for children 4-8, but just look at what type of behavior it teaches!

lol - great reply to a great thread, the highlighted was my fav part but your last paragraph was great too! :)

With this guy, it just come naturally

This is what happens when the serious, core gaming companies jump into the Blue Ocean. Everyone realizes just how knee-deep and shallow the ocean is along with a lack of fauna and flora to support it. Pretty soon, it will be another Dead Sea where we look back and think wow that had a long ride just like Tetris in the 1990s, but where is the Blue Ocean now because all I see are puddles with mario dolls, donkey kong dolls, kirby dolls, samus dolls, and on?

Rol You always did have the best threads

Different tastes I suppose. Here are some games that I bet will score pretty well (over an 85) coming to 360 next year

Dead Space 2, Marvel vs Capcom 3, Bulletstorm, Cyrsis 2, Dragon Age 2, Gears 3, Elder Scrolls 5, Mass Effect 3, Batman AC, Rage, Call of Duty, Forza 4. Not that I want all of those and I'm sure I left plenty out, but the lineup is really solid to the point where the hardcore 360 fan should be happy despite Kinect being around.

This thread is a troll thread. Its easily recognizable. Easily.

I mean, nobody will buy the kinect after they play zelda and sorcery? Kinect is for casuals who wouldn't even game without an auto difficulty level where everything happens automatically. Games like zelda and sorcery aren't for them.
