Poor fellow...

Around the Network

I've read all of the discworld books, The Bromeliad Trilogy, Carpet People, Strata, and The Dark Side of the Sun. For people wanting to start reading his books I would recommend The Colour of Magic or Mort. Younger readers would probably enjoy the Tiffany Aching books. And for all you cat lovers that spend your time here, you can read The Unadulerated Cat.

Nooooooooooo. This is so sad. I met him once, he gave me a muffin.

@ssj12

any of his books are genius, but my favourite is Thief of Time. It is probably best to start with Colour of Magic seeing as it is the first Discworld novel. Also his books for youngers readers such as, The Amazing Maurice and his Educated Rodents, The Wee Free Men are just as imaginative and funny.

Wii Free Men for younger readers? What did you smoke? Never has there been so much drugs and violence in a Pratchett book. The first Wii Free Men is fantastic, alongside Small Gods, Mort and Monstrous Regiment. The best, however, is Good (Bad?) Omens in cooperation with Neil Gayman.

After the death of Robert Jordan, this news makes for a really sad 2007, favorite authors wise...

Wee Free Men, Hat Full Of Sky and The Wintersmith are all for younger readers. As are The Amazing Maurice, The Bromeliad Trilogy and Carpet People. Also Good Omens=Quality, I am currently reading that in bed. As well as reading Feet of Clay in the living room and I am Legend(not Pratchett) in the crapper.

I hear the good news is that they caught it early, so there are treatment options available.

I haven't read every Discworld novel ever written, but my favourite amongst the ones I have read would be Pyramids. It has inhuming, pre-emptive retaliation, and the best mathmetician in the world.

i never heard of him.. recommendations on books? sucks to hear a fellow author (working on my own novel) get such a bad disease.

You're writing books too? I thought I was the only one in here.

No... NO..... this cant be happening. WHY!!!!!!!!!!! I cant believe it.

(Denial is the first step of the grieving process is it not?)

This is so horrible. He's not just my favourite author, hes my idol. Im going to go cry myself to sleep.

I find self deprciation is the best way for humorless people to be socialble.

Aww, that's a shame. I picked up The Colour of Magic on a whim late last year and loved it; I'll have to get around to reading more of his books now that I know he probably won't be writing any more.

"'Casual games' are something the 'Game Industry' invented to explain away the Wii success instead of actually listening or looking at what Nintendo did. There is no 'casual strategy' from Nintendo. 'Accessible strategy', yes, but ‘casual gamers’ is just the 'Game Industry''s polite way of saying what they feel: 'retarded gamers'."

Very sad to hear about this.

Feet of Clay has to be the best book in the Discworld series. Followed by Jingo , Hogfather and Reaper Man.

Terry Pratchett said that there is still definetly time for a few more books. I think it is really mild so they might be able to treat it well.

Wee Free Men is for younger readers, thats common knowledge.
