Well, what should we do now? Searching through many threads so that this "some people deny that Kinect is a success" argument is justified? I think we have all better things to do than doing this.

For the platform issue, as I said before: a comparison with WM Plus, the Balance Board or Move would also show that it is a success. The mistake you simply made in here was to call it a platform (and there isn't really a reason to call it a platform).


The thread has served the purpose I had for it... I'm happy with it and I'm done with it.

So the purpose was to discuss if Kinect is a platform or not?

Kinect is a major success and the way you word it is words from a biased persons point of view or  just strait jealousy.

It is a major success and should be recognized as so.  So your stealthiness Is fine and all but we see what your doing.

So I guess you missed my post further up when I said Kinect launch is a success?   And it seems you have no interest in comprehending what I'm telling you since you're suggesting my posts are hedged jealousy instead of the actual purpose being that of informing the facts regarding classification.   

Do you really need to validate your purchase so much that you'll continually makes illogical claims and infer erroneous information about my posts?   Are you that insecure?  Nothing in any of my posts, aside from stating the launch was a success, speaks of any subjectivity.  It speaks a lot when a Kinect apologist takes the posts from someone who sided with them regarding the success of the product and tries to make it out to be a negative slight against it.  You do yourself and other Kinect fans no favors by continuing your line of debate.

This not a matter of debate or semantics, it's fact.   You may not like it and feel Kinect deserves special recognition but it doesn't given the classification of the type of hardware product that Kinect is.

That statement I made has no relavence to the success of Kinect at all.  I'm referring to the product's classification as a platform extending peripheral rather than a standalone accountable console as some were trying to suggest it as.


BLah, Blah, BLah BLAH blah, still trying to downplay it.

kinect will have many games and does, So it's a little different and comparing it that way still makes it a success. Games are made for the device.

Guys, besides one or two people in here I haven't seen anyone who said that Kinect isn't a success, but treating it as a new platform is just pointless. If Kinect is a new platform, so is Move, Eyetoy, Wii Fit balance board, and even WM Plus. You need these peripherals to play specific games, yes. But they still stay peripherals because they are useless without the consoles themselves.

It would make more sense to compare it to Move, WM Plus or the Balance Board. This would also show that it is a huge success.

Another discussion that appeared some days ago was if it is the fastest selling electronic device. Hell, Kinect is selling incredibly well, but ignoring the iPhone 4 won't let it disappear.

Anyway, some of the discussions in here are actually quite funny.

This. One of the best and clearest posts in this thread. Blockheads will hate you, but being hated by them is actually a compliment.   

BTW, comparing it with Balance Board implies a very positive side-effect: BB had and still has a huge success, despite having a very low attach rate, most of its buyers have for it only the game included.

For a copycat peripheral, it's a wonderful performance that should be praised for generations with a lot of neogaf thread full of 'best evar'.

But we won't mention the fact that it's a mere copy of a proven concept, that the games are copies of what exists on the Wii for years, we won't talk about the install base of the Xbox itself, nor the numerous pricecuts, the effect of the last SKU, the 2 years advertising with gaming journalism naturally anti-nintendo, paid with the MS games' adds.

No, we won't talk about that.

LOL!! Please. You could talk about that with all 3 consoles. Every console has copied something from the other. Yeah, there really no need to talk about something that every console this generation has done. The Kinect is not the EyeToy. Do you see 3 cameras on the EyeToy? Does the EyeToy do full body scanning and can it scan objects into a game? There is a lot of things Kinect does that the EyeToy doesn't or can't. Everything Move does, the Wii does. Most of the games in Sports Champions are in Wii Sports or Wii Sports resort.

As for Kinect sales, it's a huge success and has already caught and passed the Move. Microsoft just needs a slew of exclusive games of it next year and it should do fine.

it is not a platform so it is uncomparable wii is a console and kinect is an add on. stop being such an xbot and open your eyes.
