It's an add on.. Priced similar to a console launch.. Now that should make the sales even more than impressive.

Why don't we put in the Motion Plus? I think it has outsold in its first weeks the HD systems (Remember, over 200k sold in Japan FW excluding bundles, I think near 2m FW WW is a possibility...).

I didn't read all of the posts here, but what I gathered from this thread is this:

- Many people admit that Kinect is a success, but they think it's not right to consider it a new platform.
- Then there are those who attack these people by saying that they can't admit that it's a success (or even call them fanboys). Funny that always see the same people acting like this...

Guys, besides one or two people in here I haven't seen anyone who said that Kinect isn't a success, but treating it as a new platform is just pointless. If Kinect is a new platform, so is Move, Eyetoy, Wii Fit balance board, and even WM Plus. You need these peripherals to play specific games, yes. But they still stay peripherals because they are useless without the consoles themselves.

It would make more sense to compare it to Move, WM Plus or the Balance Board. This would also show that it is a huge success.

Another discussion that appeared some days ago was if it is the fastest selling electronic device. Hell, Kinect is selling incredibly well, but ignoring the iPhone 4 won't let it disappear.

Anyway, some of the discussions in here are actually quite funny.

Kinect isn't a success.

congratulations kinect. i never expected it to sell that much not even close with the 149 price tag but it did. the games are selling fine the crap games are selling crap and good games are selling good. It is a success, I hope that the next xbox will not go as the wii and just get alittle upgrade to the specs and add kinect functionality else i will go to the ps4 which will hopefully get a big upgrade from this gen.

I think they added Kinect for this gen so they could focus on something else for next gen, next Xbox will of course have Kinect compatibility, but if you are only out for a Kinect you will just buy a 360. So i think its safe to say that next gen will not be like the Wii, since its a peripheral instead in this case

Kinect's software is doing well, but honestly I expected Dance Central to be doing better by this point, considering how big Just Dance is.  Then again, I expected Rock Band to quickly eclipse Guitar Hero, and that never really happened until the genre nosedived anyway.

OP should also probably point out that Wii Play was Japan only for the first six weeks.

but just dance has a lot more possible customers. you cant expect that 5 million people buy dance central with 4 million kinect owners and a lot of those 4 million will be christmas gifts so a lot of people just bought kinect wihout an additional game .
