Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Sale Expectations For Wii Games

As far as I know, Data Design Interactive made a killing from their shovelware. Especially when you factor in that most of it was ports of their PS2/PC shovelware.

That one is a bit tricky to go spreading around, since no one seems to know if it includes the DS version or not. Seeing how well the game is doing in Europe, how well DS software generally does, and how much the olympics actually starting are probably going to boost sales, 4 million doesn't sound all that far fetched anymore. Just for the Wii version it's delusional, though.

As far as we know, it does include DS and Sega likely excepted more from the DS sales than the Wii sales.  The Wii version should sell more than 2,000,000 and more than meet what we think the likely expectations happen to be.

I actually think the 4 million was just for the Wii version... Someone was reporting that, but I don't recall who or where...

It obviously doesn't need to move 4 million to be a success. But it's in shape to move over 2 million.

"[Our former customers] are unable to find software which they WANT to play."
"The way to solve this problem lies in how to communicate what kind of games [they CAN play]."

Satoru Iwata, Nintendo President. Only slightly paraphrased.
