I think the news about the PS3 port might kill some of the sales after Christmas.  This game may struggle to get much over 2M.

You don't get it. This game may get a ps3 port because it sold well on the wii - which it's doing > 826k and growing.

If Epic mickey can't sell on the wii - disney best audience console - then it won't be a succes on any other console.

Yes, that's what the developers said at the time - if the game sells well enough on the Wii, there may be a PS3 version.

It was offered with Wii NSMB Wii Sports at Walmart on BF ahead of its release - I figure that deal alone assured it will reach alot of USA homes. You don't even need Nintendo or VGC for game sales in the USA really - Nintendo channel is fairly indicative with a multiplier of x3 to x8 for most stuff, more in a couple cases (Just Dance) less for super-online centric stuff.

How long before the preowned market makes such data difficult to decipher?  I live in the UK, and using the Nintendo channel's Wii Sports data (and knowing how many wiis have been sold in the UK), the ratio is around x10.  However, this method - when applied to games that probably aren't disproportionately owned by people who use the Nintendo Channel - produces some surprisingly high sales estimates for games that never broke into the UK charts (e.g. Zack and Wiki; Disaster:DoC)

Well apparently all is well.  Someone said that report of Epic Mickey going to PS3 was a hoax.  If it was not a hoax it would have been dangerously pre-mature.  I don't think any developer would want to risk announcing a superior port just weeks after release of the original version of the game. I think my point is still valid though-- Wii games have legs that can last for years-- even 3rd party games like CoD, Cabella, Just Dance, etc.  Epic Mickey may have some of its legs cut out from under it if a PS3 version is released a few months after release.  It should be interesting to see how Epic Mickey goes though.

Mass Effect 2 wouldn't have sold as well on the 360 if Bioware, 1 month after release, suddenly announced they were going to port to PS3.  The way they waited a good 6 months or more before announcing the PS3 ME2 made much more sense.

Most anticipated games of 2011:

Uncharted 3,Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword, Rocksmith

Modern Warfare 3, Super Mario 3D

Yep.  Same thing is being said for Sonic Colors.

Games that totally bomb don't usually get ported.  They get forgotten.

If the game's a success... it should be ported to PS3.
If the game flops.... it should be ported to PS3 because the Wii audience doesn't buy games.

*sigh*

There are issues with that that the Source sorta covered (saying the Super online centric stuff), but that includes stuff that just really gets a rave from the core on the Wii but may not include online play, stuff like Rune Factory, Fire Emblem, and Harvest Moon, none of which are online and all of which have done gangbusters at least as far as overall playtime is concerned

You just have to know the types of games which are definitely going to be outliers as far as Nintendo Channel is concerned

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.

You just can't win!

Solid sales so far. I approve.

Rockstar: Announce Bully 2 already and make gamers proud!

Kojima: Come out with Project S already!

I got this game for x-mas and I'm lookin forward to checking it out. I wanna finish up DKCR first though.

@jarrod  I gotta agree with everything you said, I gotta wonder why someone would want this on PS3??? not that Epic Mickey is bad but this kind of game is what Ninty systems excel at, oh sure Sony has there R&Cs, J&Ds and Sly Coopers and they are all really good but they will always be seen in most people's eyes as just following Ninty's lead. and poor MS had that time traveling cat that no one cared about and havent been seen since. My point is if someone cared about a game like this why the hell would they not have a Wii by now???  Games like this sell better on Wii anyway, matter of fact I think this might be the only core genre where the Wii games do outsell the HD ones. (sonic unleashed, Toy story 3, Lego Harry Potter etc.)
