Based off working at walmart last year, ill tell you those gift cards are a massive selling point. Customers looked at it this way. You pay regular price, but can get several games, a game and part of the price of a controller, or this year the PlayStation Move bundle with that added $100. Its the samething with the gift cards with the other consoles. Most bought the console and saved the card for Wii Sports since the Wii gift card was only $50 last year.

The mario kart beating gt5 this week by a few hundred actually cant be called a valid argument. All number on this site are estimates and normally fall between 5% and -5% in accuracy so gt5 could have beaten mario kart in sales in real world sales. No way of knowing, and estimates are estimates, but its way to close to call a victory of one outselling the other this week.

ahh what the hell is DK Country, Golden Eye, Kirbys Yarn and Mario's 25th anniversary? Gold Fish? i guess they dont count as major titles lol

WOW at the console that was dead.  Tired of that BS in the media.  4 years of hate on a great console and it still kicks out the teeth of the hating media.

Outselling 360,ps3,psp, & ps2 combined is just insane.

But the real shock to me is that 3 weeks in, GT5 hasn't broke 1M in america yet.  With all the detail in the game, all the media on this and hype before it's release; I was sure that this would have hit 1M in it's first week in america like the FPS titles on the 360.  I can't remember what the total was that I heard was spent on the development of GT5 but I know it was an insane amount.  I can't wait to try it at my friend's house over the holidays.  I know three people that have PS3s and they all wanted this for Christmas.

That does not bode well for the Vitality Sensor that you and a lot of others claim is going to skyrocket Wii hardware sales and keep it on top next year, now does it? Or are Nintendo peripherals exempt from this rule?

PS: I don't think that Kinect is the main seller for hardware this holiday season either though, it appears to be a combination of factors; blockbuster games, good bundles, good price, console re-design and Kinect all put together is bound to have a good effect.

I bet vgchartz is overtracking the wii, sorry but after november NPD I don't buy those 360 x 2 sales.

November is not Chrismas. And it was the month of realease of Kinect and COD. And the 360 barely edged the Wii and was behind the Wii at Black Friday.

It was completely obvious that the Wii was going to destroy the 360 in December. In what world do you live? Nintendo OWNS Christmas and there is nothing M$ can do against it.

Last year the Wii sold 1,2 millions in November and 3,8 millions in December. Not knowing that the Wii was going to take December should be worthy of a VG chartz noob card.

Kinect in peoples eyes is the future, that is selling it, that will keep it going until the next batch of games come in imo. Potential is a fantastic word. In sport terms a team may have recruited really good, yet have done nothing yet.

Potential is a powerful word, casuals aren't stupid. Casuals like what the future holds, hence the wii doing so well and the ds, the ds was one of the affordable touch screens when it came out and it took hold. etc etc
