Besides the somewhat confusing disregard of phones as electronic devices, it is still a very impressive rate of sales. Though I do think 5 weeks is a bit soon to be calling something the fastest selling electronic device ever especially as its holiday shopping season and there will be a big drop off after christmas.

Very biased towards Microsoft this. Yes it is  a popular product in a certain area but to say the biggest ever device launch? Only if you disregard Apple which as been done here. I also see this having a massive drop in sales after new year. Remember Microsoft have been shrewd to launch this in a Christmas period when a lot of products have abnormal sales figures. Also when the euphoria of the few games worth buying for this has gone this product will be mediocre at best. Why disregard a company like apple that sold it's products in a launch in summer and sold more unless the OP was a microsoft troll?

Kinect right now is only "the best selling" because PR spin bullshit puts it in that place.

Iphone 4 sold more than it but somehow it doesn't count :)

Sigh, why would anyone consider a phone a consumer electronic device?  Phones are their own category.  That is nothing new.

This all comes down to this: Microsoft has to milk their cow in every way possible.

Remember those old days were microsoft trash talked the Wii and its motion controls? How the Wii didn't count as in the same league as HD consoles so in the world of microsoft they could be the first?

 Guess what, microsoft actually had to swallow the frog and be crow served and catch up with motion control 4 years late to the party. So much for their motion control trash talk.

This is exactly the same thing, but this time, it is Apple being trash talked, and in the world of Microsoft, Kinect is the best selling eletronic device, or in pace to be, whatever makes these PR earn their salary.

Can't wait to see post xmas Kinect sales, thats when the party really takes off...
