Wow looks like Wii and DS are going to claim 2010 as their own.

Nice to see so many Wii titles rising in the charts, Nintendo's holiday effect is in full swing yet again.

Also fun prediction that was in Famitsu:

''Low numbers for GT5 but legs at holidays are expected.
Mario Sports Mix has low sell-through, good legs are not expected''

Looks like they got things a bit backwards...

Also next week NSMBW should be just under 100K away from outselling Super Mario Land.

03. [NGB] Super Mario Land (Nintendo) - / 4.190.000

17

Eventually the Mario All Time Charts will read

1. Super Mario Bros (NES)

2. New Super Mario Bros (DS)

3. New Super Mario Bros (Wii)

Wow at DKCR! Didn't expected such high sales!

On the other hand I expected much higher sales for GT5.

You think that's hogh for DK? Don't make me laugh, tohse are dissastrous sales.

Hey, you're a nice guy (really) and very funny to boot (I like your crazy threads), but I noticed something consistent with people like you who are very fervent supporters of this or that console/game - you set yourself very very high (often very unrealistic) expectations and then anything that doesn't go by these is a disaster, even if by normal parameters it is actually doing great...

I just expected it to do in par with other DK games. Was that much to ask? No, it wasn't.

I hear ya Beuli, I thought the same of GT5. It's like I said, either those games weren't enough to fulfill past expectations, or Japan is a shifting market.

GT5 sales are terrible comparing with it epic history in Japan... but Sony shipped just 500k... so by the Sony expectation GT5 has done great.

you are joking, right? Sony only shipped 500K units of GT5 because Japanese retailers only want that many. It shows how much faith retailers have in GT5 and it is certainly not Sony's expectation.

MikeB predicts that the PS3 will sell about 140 million units by the end of 2016 and triple the amount of 360s in the long run.

Well, I have to correct myself regarding Ni No Kuni, it had a somewhat low although decent opening not nice as I previously said. Level 5 shipped 600k units and they expect it to be their next "big thing" in figures a million seller. Unless it shows extremely good legs it will be a disappointment. Anyway I'm still optimistic since it is a title that caters well to the Dragon Quest and Pokemon DS audience. New IP's don't use to start strong.

PD: Why do Tales of games are always so brutally front-loaded?

I think word of mouth shold carry Nino Kuni at least close to sell out the first shipment. The first Layton or Inazuma Eleven games did not start that high either and they all turned out to be fine.

On the other hand, if they can't sell out the first shipment of Nino Kuni, it would be the second time this year Level 5 overshipped (following Inazuma Eleven 3). Not a good sign for the company.

PD: cause Tales has Final Fantasy syndrome.

GT5 number is weak.

Bad numbers for Bombakuni. 430K still on shelves. Next week will be interesting.

If Nintendo are using the same advertising paradigm in Japan as they do in Europe expect sales to grow for DKCR next week...

Yes.

Sony's expectation is made by retail's expectation.

3 weeks and over the first shippment (500k) = GREAT.

Japan as a market has declined since the old DKC games though. Look at GT5, and console sales in general there. Plus it's the type of game that should have legs.

I dunno, I guess I just had l lower expectations for the game in Japan, they seem pretty good to me.

Can we not judge DK from FW -.-. It's annoying how some have already called it a success and others have claimed it a bomb. Some have to just acknowledge that DK isnt what it used to be, but at the same time it can retain its status and especially on the Wii which is having a platforming revival. 160k is a good number for an underwhelming preorders number imo, but it needs legs to really get to where it wants to be.

Im hoping it gets to a million in japan, which would be excellent for a series that hasnt had a game in 12  years!
