It's been like 3 hours and it's not half way done yet! Man I want to try it out already
just started my download a half hour ago...started with a 4 hour timer, dropped to 2 rather quickly, rose to 12 hours after about 15 minutes, dropped to 4 and a half hours and its at 4:32 downtime now :P
...uhh...ill just put my favorite quote of all time here.
"Welcome to Pain, the second of three...You have dealt the first...now deal with me!!"
after i heard that its 15 GB i gave up,i just wanted to try it, i even have another code for anyone who is interested? (i don't know if it still works though)
downloaded it for about a hour and a half still have anywhere from 10-33 hours, lord help me.
EVERY GAMERS WORST NIGHTMARE...THE TANGLING CABLES MONSTER!

Coffee is for closers!
I got it and after only a 12h15m download (
) I started it.
My impressions (only played for a couple of hours so my impressions might change later on):
I created a character. Pathetic name - Flame Warrior ( I tried a bunch of cool ones, but they were already taken)
I use primarily Fire, I can fly, I use a hand blast for powers.
There are a lot of options to create a character.
Now for the game:
Graphics are ok. Not amazing, textures sometimes take awhile to load, but your character model is fine. I even made a nice costume with cape for my hero.
There are 3 major cities I think (Metropolis, Gotham and ?????? - dont remember lol)
I made a couple fo missions on an area of Metropolis. Facing Gorilla Grodd (well his soldiers there are several missions - I imagine the last one wil be to confront him)
Flying is surprisingly good. You press L3 to change between walking and flying. And you use R3 to move around. X makes you go up.
I loved flying around Metropolis. The city is huge. I fly kinda slow, but I see that there will be skills that can increase my speed later on in the game.
One complaitn though - whenever you are doing a mission, a lot of people are doing it with you. So if you have to kill 10 Gorilla Soldiers, you have to be the one to give the last blow.
Its a bit annoying when you take most of their health for someone else to get the kill. There are a lot of enemies though and they respawn fast, so you wont have to wait too much to get it done.
Aiming can be a tough. You have to press L1 to keep a lock-on.
So far, Id say this game is good, but not great. I can see the missions become repetitive.
I do think however that if there was no monthly fee I would get this game.
The feeling of being a super-hero and flying is awesome.
I will tell more as I play more.

First off, wow you guys must have bad nets as the download for me took 1 hour at max.
I've played for about 4 hours now and this post above is spot on. I have ice powers, flight and im a brawler. I dont find aiming hard though its pretty much spot on when I use it and I usually finish off the npcs I fight. I too did the gorilla grodd mission and saved Flash :D, the feeling is really really good which is what you want in an MMO. When I first looked at videos I was like: So much shit going on, so many colors ewww but when you actually play it, you are IN CONTROL And its really fun. Theres Metropolis, Gotham and the Watchtower. The game is good, I really really enjoy it. Like the above post, I do get the feeling that if it has not a high amount of variation, things may become boring quite quickly which is why I intend to play the living hell out of this beta and see if I manage to bore myself out. If I fail to do so, this just might be a first day buy :).
MY MENTOR IS SUPERMAN :] and my name sucks even more... wait for eeet..
PHENOMENAL MAN (LOL)

hahahahaha. Great name.
The thing is thsat I need to level up to et the skills that will give me the ability to strike from above.
Nothing like flying and hitting someone hard on the ground.
I do love flying though.

Ive got a move where I hold in Square and I kinda launch myself towards the enemy im locked onto and punch him. Then I have another where I drag people towards me with a ice/stormish thingie and once they come to me, I can strike them (even in mid air). I also have ice beam/laser that I can shoot from my eyes so flying and using my powers are no biggie. Im level 7.

Thanks for the impressions. I've had my eye on this game for a while!

I'll test this some more, but this is completely wrong last I saw. Last I had these missions to do anyone who got a hit in got equal credit even when not partied. I did several highly contested quests this way. Often I would do little to no damage, and rarely get the killing blow but I would still get credit for the quest. There are times when quests can get severely limited and hard to complete, but it takes a lot of people. Even then it normally clears out fast.
Edit: Of note, I have been in the PC Beta since October sometime. I will write up a more detailed impressions bit in a separate thread if people seem to have an interest.
