This summer I tried the P90 workout and kept feeling sore for days and couldn't do the stretches in one of the routines (the one with downward dog -> push-up stance -> leg raising) so I quit... plus, it didn't really help much because I just got hungrier and ate more...

Then I tried using the treadmill everyday for 15 minutes for about a month but this also led to more hunger problems and leg soreness...

Finally I just tried bicep curls, made sure to have good posture as specified by workout material, but my lowerback keeps hurting a lot from them. I even had a random spasm of pain completely out of the blue during a day where I wasn't bicep curling and I think it was caused by the exercise... I don't even do it that long. Maybe 30 minutes at most of standard bicep curls.

Overall, I think my problem is I can't control my hunger at all and I can NOT stand the soreness of the exercises. I mean... I kept up with Power90 for a month but the soreness continued (especially after the rib burner exercises) and the treadmill just isn't doing anything in helping me lose weight.

Maybe I'm just lazy? I don't know but I'd like tips on how to handle hunger and soreness problems that these exercises create... I really want to lose weight but the hunger and pain really bother me.

I've also tried dieting for a week but regained all the weight back... :(

The most important thing to do while looking to lose weight is to build muscle. Every pound of lean muscle burns sixty calories a day simply existing. And when you work out muscle burns calories faster and longer. Also it seems you may be starting too strong if you are getting excessively sore. Start a weight training regiment with some light cardio, breaking it down to parts

Mon- shoulders

tues- back

wed- legs

thursday- chest

friday- arms

Don't go overboard and hurt yourself, it might be embarrassing to do low weights at first but people will respect your for trying and you'll build up higher and higher as you continue. As for the food, its not that important how much you eat- its more about what you eat.

Thanks for the help. :D

A question though... Do you have any suggestions on what types of exercises I should do? Such as which would be the most beneficial?

Basically you can pick and choose from this list depending on your equipment. Just make sure that you spread each exercise for each body part to different muscles in the group. (For example don't do all bicep workouts for arms)

I lost 15kg(i think it's a little more than 30pounds) in the last 6 months only doing 3 things:

-Drink A LOT of Water. I'm drinking about 4-5L of water. It helps a lot to control hunger. Your urine needs to be white.

-Change your diet. In the initial phase of my diet i eat a LOT, i was very hungy back then. I still eat almost 1 Carrot per day. Try to eat more in breakfast. The Dinner is the worst part...you have to control what you eat in night, i actually feel hungry in dinner some days.

Are you american ? Try to drink water, not soda. eat cereal bars instead of choco.

- Do aerobic exercise, not anaerobic. It's very difficult to gain muscle while lossing fat. I don't even exercise. I only walk a little everyday. When I exercised I felled so much hungry...

It was very difficult for me. But when you see the results you'll be happy and wanting more. It's about changing habits.  Try to eat slower, and follow what I said. Today I feel less hungry than former.

I really believe to lose weight a person has to do about an hour of cardio in one session at least four times a week and more. There must be consistancy and sometimes you will just have to let yourself be hungary. My stomach shrunk after I rode my bike all spring and summer and I had to eat more to prevent losing to much weight. Eventually, your stomach will shrink (literally the organ) will get to a nbormal size and it will take less food to fill you up.

Cardio is number one before weight lifting when it comes to losing weight, so if you do not like soreness you will not need much weight lifting unless you enjoy it. Lifting weights is to gain muscle mass, not burn calories. But gaining some muscle mass sure will help you burn more, but not as much as some would lead you to believe.

Just advise from a man who lost a lot of weight and has learned how to keep it off.

Muscle is key, if you had done weight training with your cardio your results would have come faster

Dude I have been a weight lifter for 9 years since I was 16. I have been a gym rat, but I never lost any fat just gained muscle. I only lost fat when I learned of the joys of cardio!

You misunderstand what I'm saying. For burning fat weight lifting isn't as effective as swimming or running. But building muscle makes everything you do a much more effective way to burn fat. Plus if all you do is cardio you will lose weight (slower) and than thats it. If you add weight training you will lose fat faster and come out looking built as well. Its win- win.
