Forums - Microsoft - Forza 4 will be the most realistic racer on any console - Microsoft

I don't think so. Forza 4 which will be in development for 3 years can't compare to GT5 which was developed 6 years. Also, Kinect support will eat up too much ressources to truly outshine GT5. And I rather have a real steering wheel than a simulated.

However, if they do pull that off, color me impressed.

The difference in development time will have little impact on the differences between these games. GT5 spent years doing who knows what (most likely creating models). Forza 4 can take all the HD models from Forza 3 and they only need to add the new cars and improve the already good physics. Now, if Forza 4 was starting from scratch I might buy into that argument. In the end years don't matter anyways, as man-years are a lot more important.

I will tell you for free that Kinect compatibility with this game is pointless and will take about 5 metacritic point off its score probably about 93 down to 88

YES!!! huaxiong90 has 5000 posts at my will. Behold my power! Forza 4 will be console racing king at my will! (Borat: NAT!)

Very niiice, how muuuch, I liike.

Rockstar: Announce Bully 2 already and make gamers proud!

Kojima: Come out with Project S already!

it really can be pulled off, considering gt5's physics engine is old. but i dont think they will do it, with the kinect integration of the game they are going to have to put some limitations. and again this is boasting for pr, everyone does it.

Being in 3rd place never felt so good

Normally I'd say that'd be a normal thing to say, if not for many people who still find Forza 3 better then GT5.

Metacritic is one of them. I guess this just shows that dev time seriously doesn't seem to mean jack this gen, for the most part. Uncharted 2 and Mass Effect 2 are some of the highest rated games, and they came out 2(?) years after the originals.

GOTY Contestants this year: Dead Space 2, Dark Souls, Tales of Graces f. Everything else can suck it.

Edit: my bad. 2 years and 2 months.

I love Forza 3...and realism isn't the reason why. Its just fun to play..and not tedious like some other racers.

So I hope they dont F it up making it all realistic and shizzle...

Mass Effect 2 came out 2 years and a half after the original.

Yeah, thats right. Add 0.5 years to the original estimate.

well it's expected for them to say that or any other company, it wouldn't sit well if Turn 10 said "We want Forza to be second to Gran Turismo"

I'm not into these types of games but I do wish Turn 10 the best, though I don't know if Kinect will fit nicely with this type of game, would it be like a complex joyride? would control users and Kinect users be separated when it comes to online races?

There's no way they'll be using Kinect for controls I'd have thought and they mention a controller themselves in the release.  I'm figuring Kinect will be used for head tracking - which could be very cool - as well as reviewing car collection, more interactive modding of cars, etc.

Could be good I think.

Personally, going by Forza 3 and GT5 I think it'll be interesting to see what they do.  PR is of course just that, and should be taken with a pinch of salt, but I actually feel there is a clear difference currently between the two:

1 - Forza is more about the racing, with damage, etc. and online

2 - GT remains - despite the online and sort of damage - more of an SP experience where it's about finding the perfect driving line and shaving milliseconds off your best time.

If Forza can retain 1) while offering 2) it could be interesting.  On the other hand in theory GT will be seeing patches and upgrades focused around 1) so both may end up being pretty similar come the launch of Forza 4.

Funny thing is, I always thought the worst smack talk/posturing would be around FPS exclusives, etc. between 360 and PS3 - who knew it would actually be about their racing franchises!  For some reason I find this strangely odd.

Try to be reasonable... its easier than you think...
