yes, there are some differenece, in time, BUt there are also difference in sales + competitors are stronger now, then DC and N64 were.

 wtf thats like an extra 2 YEARS (23 months) of sales for the PS3 compared to the PS2.....just stop now, youre making yourself look AWFUL.

Gran Turismo 3 - 1,06 mln. in 3 weeks with around 4 mln. PS2 on the launch.
Gran Turismo 4 - 1,16 mln. with 18 mln. PS2 on the launch.

Final Fantasy X - around 2 mln. with 5 mln. PS2 on the launch.
Final Fantasy X-2 - 2.4 mln. with 12 mln. PS2 on the launch.

 

1.8 mln. PS3 today(2008.01.17) in Japan. Now(2009.04.30) 3.16 mln. PS3 were sold in Japan.
PS3 will reach 4 mln. in Japan by the end of 2009 with average weekly sales 25k.

PS3 may reach 5 mln. in Japan by the end of 2009 with average weekly sales 50k.
PS2 2001 vs PS3 2008 sales numbers =) + New games released in Japan by 2009 that passed 100k so far

What stever is trying to say is, biggest userbase =/= winner. Do you get that? They all have different criteria for what they consider success. If profit meant success this generation, Sony is clearly in dead last, but like I said, they all have different criteria. Ill say it one last time, "biggest userbase =/= winner"

The most stupid thing in your demonstration, is that the multiplier is set arbitrarily by yourself !
If it's more than x2 : Glory and 100M units LTD guaranteed
If it's less than x2 : 3 years of meh sales and then it's totally dead

What's the formula that gave you that essential constant which, though it was highly improbable, is exactly 2 ?

Is Sony happy with 1/3rd of the overall worldwide games market? Probably.

Most important for this month - PS3 hardware sales have risen significantly. Software (1st-party especially) is still pretty crap though.

I don't see much difference between this month and previous months... It is an improvement but not by much... The worst part is PS2 is still outselling it...

As for the rest of the world they are making great progress (Japan and Europe).

Crazzy, are you implying that if PS3 doubles it's fiscal year sales from this (FY08) to next (FY09) it will sell more units than Wii? or 360? or what? i need a more simple explanation.

for instance if PS3 does 10.5 LTD before April--- take away the 2.8 from FY07, so lets round to 7.5m for the FY08 total.
If PS3 then manages 15mil for FY09 [LTD of 25+mil] it will be victorious over what exactly? [particularly considering Wii should manage 17mil+ THIS fiscal]
