ME2 and U2 were more highly regarded critically than Gears of War 2. But then again, the original Gears was the highest scored out of the 3 original games.

It's also possible that Microsoft and Epic wanted Gears of War 3 to stand out more. You have to think, if they do an event for Gears of War 3 to show off whats new, it gets all the attention. Anything tonight will be shared with Uncharted 3, Mass Effect 3, Portal 2, Batman: Arkham City, and whatever else is shown tonight.

By what? A whopping three points on Metacritic? That kind of a statement is a stretch to say the least.

Yeah. the 100 Game of the Year awards for Uncharted 2 should be completely thrown out for last year. e.e

I can't say anything about Mass Effect 2 because most places GOTY awards haven't happened yet, but I'm sure it will rack up more than Gears of War 2.

Well, it says "bigger than Uncharted 3", so the only thing I could imagine MS to announce that would be bigger (considering hype) is either Gears 3 (which won't be shown and is already announced anyway) or a new Halo. And Nintendo normally doesn't show anything at VGAs as far as I know. A multiplatfrom game seems most likely to me.

I acknowledge that Gears of War is the highest selling new IP on HD consoles, which is a great feat considering it was only 2 games on 1 console (not counting PC sales even). I was pointing out the critical acclaim of Uncharted 2. (b) Of course if you don't have a more substantial argument then you could just shut up instead of trying to make me seem like I am intentionally trolling. e.e

( c ) And I find it kind of funny that somebody who has been on the site for all of 4 months (probably my most inactive 4 months since I joined the site) is trying to tell me what I am doing objectively or not.


(a) So you admit that you're quibbling over 3 points and a bunch of GOTY awards in a year Gears of War 2 wasn't released? Ok, fair enough.

(b) Not really, I just think comparing games from different years is pretty silly, unless they're in the same series or something.

Then again, I completely fail to see what difference it makes to this argument or not. It's cool. I'm still waiting on a list of game of the year awards for Gears of War 2. ^_^ I'll respond appropriately when i get one. :)

You'll be waiting awhile, because it's completely irrelevant unless it released in the same year as Uncharted 2. Of course, I look forward to your thread declaring Uncharted 2 is the best game of all-time because it has the most GOTY awards.

we are having useless argument anyway, we've seen Gears, it was at e3. You can't compare it to games we are finally going to see for the first time.

How was he quibbling? He  stated that U2 & ME2 were rated higher than gears 2, which is a fact. Then he stated how Gears 1 was rated higher than both which is a fact.
It's not like he took that fact and made a whole story on how Gears 2 was an inferior game.

Havent they already announced it? I mean there are even extended clips of game footage out there. The only thing left for them to announce is the release date.

The decision to pull an announcment certainly doesn't have to do with U3 or ME3, but clearly has to do with the fact the game is being pushed back to november so what would have been a big gameplay trailer wouldn't make sense now.

For those wondering about Kinect for Gears.  I have a feeling that gears will be the first game to introduce a controller to work with kinect, but that's just a guess.  Seems like the amount of delay could only be for creating an interface that will allow a controller to work with kinect similar to the wii.
