The decision to pull an announcment certainly doesn't have to do with U3 or ME3, but clearly has to do with the fact the game is being pushed back to november so what would have been a big gameplay trailer wouldn't make sense now.
For those wondering about Kinect for Gears. I have a feeling that gears will be the first game to introduce a controller to work with kinect, but that's just a guess. Seems like the amount of delay could only be for creating an interface that will allow a controller to work with kinect similar to the wii.
