Forums - Nintendo - BIG Rumor: Tales of Graces Wii being localized with PS3 extras?

I think is because of the art style, the Sony fans prefer realistic graphics while the Nintendo ones really like the cartoonish look

This post is incredibly stupid...from a Sony or Nintendo angle. Tales of symphonia on the GC was a Big Hit becuase it was literally the only big JRPG franchise to hit the console( you can count the amount of JRPG'ss on GC on 1 hand). NB didnt capitalize on the success of ToS at all and it instead stealth released ToL and ToA on console saturated with JRPG's...hell ToA came out in FF12's timeframe..thats how bad it was sent to die.

Also all JRPG;s outside on of FF all are cartooney

Maybe Nintendo made some deal with Namco...

Getting ToG in the west is a simple solution for their lack of rpg's in the west. And most tales did sell properly on a nintendo-consoles.

If Nintendo did make a deal, it's probably similar to what they did for Layton1-3/MH3/DQIX/SW3 (co-promotion, co-publishing in some regions, royalty breaks, etc).

I do kind of wonder why Sony's never taken a direct interest in the Tales series?  They've published tons of other Namco series in Europe before; Tekken, Soulcalibur, Ridge Racer, Ace Combat, Time Crisis, Klonoa, Mr. Driller, Moto GP, Smash Court, Pac-Man, Urban Reign, etc, etc... but never Tales. :/

I had expected Nintendo to pick Tales of Graces up, hence why I thought the Wii version would be far more likely to be localised than the PS3 version.  However, my localisation dreams were shattered when it was announced it was going multiplat, as Nintendo would be less likely to publish something which wouldn't be exclusive or only for a short time.

In short, I'm really happy.  I've only played Symphonia and I loved it.  I've also recently imported both Destiny and Eternia/Destiny II, but I haven't got round to playing them yet.

Sounds like good news to me! We shall now wait for any confirmation, quietly...

Wouldn't it be cool if this and Xenoblade are released in the west within a month of each other?

Xenoblade, oh Xenoblade. I almost decided to start learning Japanese so that I could import it. The man who made by favourite game Xenogears is behind Xenoblade in a way.

Samurai Warriors 3 also went multiplat but Nintendo still localized the game. Ninokuni is also coming to the PS3 but Nintendo are still localizing the version for DS. It's not such a big deal.

Also if you own a PS2, get Abyss. Second best Tales IMO. And DotNW for Wii (third best).

I live in Europe, where the only Tales game released here are the 2 Symphonias, Vesperia 360 and the GBA port of Phantasia.

As for Abyss, if the 3DS version comes out over here, I will get it day 1.  If not, getting an NTSC PSX have given me the importing bug, so I guess I could buy a US PS2 (I'll be able to play all the Xenosaga games too).

Symphonia 2 is one of those games, a  bit like Vagrant Story or Rune Factory Frontier, where I've wanted to get it several times, but for some reason never have got round to.   I might just be my next Wii purchase

The tales' games to have a colorful, toony feel to it - something people do associate more with Nintendo, then Sony.

I'd still have faith in it getting localised if I were you

Expect to hear something either way by the end of the year, no?

Sounds a bit strange. If Namco localises ToG it wouldn't make sense to only localise one version of it. I could defitinely see the Wii version get the PS3 extras though.

But, this is Namco so anything can happen...
