Its good and bad.
Truth is it could be better, it should be better.

Thank god I'm not the only one thinking the AI is good. All reviewers seem to bash it, I don't understand it to be honest.
When for instance, I put myself against a car on Forza 3 and held in the brake. The car would continue to go back and forth, back and forth trying to ram me aside whilst in GT5, they back and drive AROUND you and not right into you. This is when you catch them though and want to see how they make their way back on track.
Reviewers really nitpicked the shit out of GT5. It's easily the best racing game I've played and I am really addicted to it. Second best game behind GoW3 this year for me.

I'd like to say the ramming thing happens to me on GT5

That's not the "truth" , that was just one of the irrationaly high expectations. But the truth is this : GT5 reviews are full of shit, and most reviewers didn't play the game enough and were mindset to cherry-pick and over-critizice before even unwrapping the case.
All of this review bullshit happened in large part due to the game taking 5 years of development, and I want to ask "what is it to you if a game takes 5, 10 or 40 years to be developed? " The only thing you take part in it, it's playing it, whenever it releases doesn't affect that fact at all. Every review made a big deal about the long period of development, and those who didn't you can bet they had it all on their heads too. What's the big deal? would you complain and nitpick less if it was released 2 years ago? would the faults suddenly disappear or be more "understandable"? what's the basis for a review anyway, is it quality/time of development = score or some stupid formula like that? just wtf? And what's with all the reviews complaining about the menus? what a bunch of fags, geeez... It only proves the reviewers were truly overhyped by the game and set expectations insanely high for themselves. A good reviewer shouldn't review based on his feelings or particular tastes or the fact that his or her wet dreams didn't come true. Fuck all GT5 reviews. Yes even the positive ones and the ones scoring a 100, fuck them all.
Excellent video, and i havent played it yet so i cant comment on the reviews. but just to remind everyone, the big problem reviewers seem to have was the 800 standard cars, i havent played it yet, so i have no idea how they hold up, but this AI thing does raise some questions about how long the reviewers actully played the game.
I wonder what people want from AI in racing games.
Need for speed has extreme rubber banding and aggressive drivers to keep the race interesting. They definately don't adhere to the same physics as your car.
F1 2010's AI almost magically moves out of the way when you make an aggressive pass, as if they're not bound by the same physics as you.
Forza 3 and GT5's racers are bound by the same physics. If you brake suddenly or more then expected, chances are they can't avoid you. They also can't suddenly move out of the way in the corner as in F1 2010. At least they actually race you now and try to make passes (if your car is in the same performance range). Except for the challenges where you have to pass everyone in 1 lap, not realistic at all.
Real races are quite long and boring to watch, not a lot of passing going on. No starting last and passing everyone to finish first. Just a long train of cars 90% of the time. Bump another car and make it to the pit with a bent spoiler, pretty much losing the race.
Simulate online players behaviour? I hope not.
The only improvement I see is to keep the races interesting by providing some competitive cars instead of allowing you to enter with a 1257hp Bugatti Veyron when the best car on the starting grid tops out at 600hp. Most races either turn into time trials or looking at the back of the pack.

Try turning your car and going right into another. Trap him and hold the brake. He will then back and drive around you if you stand still, whilst in forza, the car will keep accelerating as if it could hit you off the road. Thats my point.
