Forums - General - The Box Office tracking thread

Since this is VGChartz and we love tracking sales, I figured I'd make a thread dedicated to tracking the box office of movies and to discuss what films are successful and what they're making. I'm only going to post the US dollar figures since Worldwide is a lot harder to track and the different currencies make comparing very difficult.

So without further to do, I'll post the most recent weekend. The films totals are on the far right.

Weekend of December 3-5:

1. Tangled - $21.6 million (2nd Weekend) - $96.5 million

2. Harry Potter and the Deathly Hollows Part One - $17 million (3rd Weekend) - $244.5 million

3. Burlesque - $6.1 million (2nd Weekend) - $26.9 million

4. Unstoppable - $5.9 million (4th Weekend) - $68.7 million

5. Love and Other Drugs - $5.6 million (2nd Weekend) - $22.5 million

6. Megamind - $4.9 million (5th Weekend) - $136.6 million

7. Due Date - $4.1 million (5th Weekend) - $90.8 million

8. Faster - $3.9 million (2nd Weekend) - $18.2 million

9. The Warrior's Way - $3 million (1st Weekend) - $3 million

10. The Next Three Days - $2.5 million (3rd Weekend) - $18.3 million

If you guys want to post some worldwide figures, go ahead. It will add a little bit to the conversation. Discuss.

It is doing good, but at the rate it's going at, it probably won't reach $300 million, which the first and sixth film have achieved.

Good luck, I tried a thread like this and it only lasted a few weeks.

I really hope Tangled gets a lot more worldwide. That movie cost 260 million to make, and I would hate to see it not make back it's budget. If it doesn't, then Disney will probably see the 'fairytale musical' as being unpopular and won't continue making them T_T.

Yea i can kinda tell sadly lol.

Dealthy hallows part 2 is in 3d isn't it? If it is then the 3d boost plus it being the finale should compensate for the franchise fatigue. DHp1 however is doing very well ww as usual and at this point, its all gravy anyway.

Part 2 should have a healthy boost due to the 3D treatment, but I can't see many more new fans coming into this franchise that will increase the attendance that much.
