To me it looks like DS, PS2 and X360 are sure to be down substantially from 2009 and peak levels. PSP has rebounded from 2009, but will not match 2008 which was its peak (and probably not 2007). Wii and PS3 are actually up year to date against 2009 (i.e. Jan - Nov 2010 > Jan - Nov 2009) but I think both will come in around 5-10% lower than in 2009, as the PS3 isn't doing 622k in Dec 2010 like it did in Dec 2009 (FFXIII) and Wii isn't doing 850k in Dec 2010 like it did in Dec 2009. I'd expect Wii around 1.75m and PS3 around 1.65m for the year

Overall, Japan really needs 3DS, as it doesn't look like there is much on the horizon for PSP, DS, Wii or PS3 in 2011, and X360 / PS2 are not going to magically increase either.

Well, DQX might come next year. That could help change things for Wii. I can't see any major "turn the world around" sort of title for any other console though. All other major hitters are done with this generation; Pokemon's already worn out far more than usual, MHP3 won't be this gen, 2D Mario probably will hit next on the 3DS...

Well, 3DS will be big as will psp2 if it releases next year. Hopefully price cuts on wii and ps3 can help spur sales.

How much longer has PS2 got in Japan before it starts hitting sub 100 units a week?

The ps2 will outlast us all- its even being snuck into tvs now

DS and PSP have already sold tens of millions and home consoles have not been exactly hot this gen in Japan so this is kinda expected. Next year should be way up as 3DS launches and probably PSP2 also.
