Forums - Nintendo - Spector: Epic Mickey's camera "misunderstood"

http://www.joystiq.com/2010/12/08/warren-spector-says-reviewers-misunderstood-epic-mickey-camera/

Basically telling reviewers "ur doing it wrong."

Really not the best statement for Spector to make in this case >_>

Bad excuse is bad...

I suggest changing the link to the original article, rather than a more-edited blurb.

Now to see if lessening the Journalist Retard Filter changes anything...

Retarded title.

After reading the longer response, I have to say it still sounds like he's making excuses.  He gives seemingly-valid reasons for why the camera is what it is, but when a developer is trying to blend two separate, sometimes-opposing genres together, it is the developer's duty to ensure that the users' interface is as smooth and workable as possible.  His answer boils down to "this is hard work!", which may be true, but from a user's perspective it's also irrelevant.  For the most part, we care about results, not effort.

Don't misinterpret my purpose in having made this thread. I quite like Epic Mickey, but the camera is just downright nonfunctional at times, meaning literally that it won't move or go into first person mode. I've had to make far too many blind jumps towards the camera viewpoint to have much pity for Mr. Spector in that regard

The epic fight vs Hook, and many other things, make up for it, but damn did they drop the ball on that camera

I really should play this game...

Ask me about being an elitist jerk

Time for hype

Warren Spector has now fallen into the realm of irrelevancy. The man hasn't made a good game in ten years and yet he still gets praised as if his somehow a developer Jesus. His concepts and ideas are far more interesting than the games they eventually become, his kinda like Molyneux in that way.

Bet with Conegamer and AussieGecko that the PS3 will have more exclusives in 2011 than the Wii or 360... or something.

It doesnt really matter why the game has camera issues that is not what consumers look at. What they see is a annoying camera that takes away from the enjoyment of the overall game. Giveing reasons does not make the game any better, which is what actually matters to somone who spends $50

Exactly the reason why i'll wait till the game drops in price. I've played the game, its pretty good, but the camera and some mechanics (pointer), are awful.
