40K? That's it? lmao!! Halo Reach was Triple Platium it's first week in America alone. GT5 was double, but that was Worldwide. Don't ever compare Halo Reach sales with GT5 again. It's embarrassing. Of GT5 is sold out on amazon.co.uk, because that's all UK gamers care about is soccer and racing games. lol!! They've been waiting for this game for over 5 years. Now watch the sales drop like a rock over the next 2 weeks. 


Yeah, becuse GT titles and Halo titles share identical sales profiles, just like the Wii and the HD consoles... oh wait.  What's that big Wii bump so many people don't get?  Why is that racer selling with such long legs for such a long time?

I personally doubt GT5 will sell more than Reach, but it's going to end up close, and it could possibly pass it.  Given overall GT has seen more sales as a franchise than Halo I'd cool it with trying to imply Halo titles vs GT titles is ownage for Halo - you're just making yourself an easy target.

And altought i can be face flat on the wall I see GT5 selling within 10~12M (5M to the end of the year with some good legs)...

But as I'm not a shareholder... if they only sold my copy and even tough would make a GT6 i wouldn't care less...

I'll enjoy my GT5 untill the end... and of course we can count our fanboys adding GT5P to GT5 and win a argument about sales... this way GT5 is already 6M

UK: 7.6%
France: 8.4%
Italy: over 5.5%
Finland: 20% (estimate)

So Finns love GT5... the best attach ratio in EMEAA.


do you have the numbers of attach ration here in rome? i am asking because we have a population comparable to finland. gt5 is a global big failure, but an hit in finland, interesting

It's not even worth debating with him about GT5. He's behaved this way since the game launched. It's as if it crushed his hopes of failing and now he's trying to cover it up. Pretty sad when gamers act like that.

OT: We keep hearing of records this game is breaking. Makes me wonder what the 2nd weel will look like in EMEAA, and with several early indications, it's looking to have another good week.


All signs point towards an extremely good hold in EMEAA in week 2. We're probably undertracking week 1 by a couple hundred k and the UK is probably where it saw it's most dramatic drop. And even there the drop wasn't that bad, only 61% compared to the traditional 70%-80% that most games see. Particularly impressive when you consider the fact that week 1 totals were already slightly inflated since the game had 4 days to sell rather than the traditional 2. I wouldn't be surprised if week 2 in EMEAA is 600k plus.

I just had to finally register here when I saw this thread and some of the mistakes people have been making.

Because you know, Google Translate is does sometimes really crappy job translating some of the more exotic languages (like finnish).

So here's a short summary of FIGMA-press release, translated as closely as possible:

 

World of Warcraft: Cataclysm to platinum on its release day.

WoW: Cataclysm sold platinum (20 000 copies in Finland) on it's release day. There was a record number of stores participating in nightsales countrywide, that and buyer enthusiasm speeded the game to platinum sales on its release day.

 

Gran Turismo 5 speeded to double platinum sales in record time.

It became the fastest selling double platinum (40 000 copies) game in Finnish history.

 

Platinum for Halo: Reach

Halo: Reach continues to be popular and as expected reached 20 000 copies sold required for platinum game.

Yah, you're right.  Just amazing how so many people avoid so much stuff at the moment, across all three consoles.  GT5 in particular seems to be under the microscope beyond any AAA title I can think of from a long term franchise and the focus of a huge "ours is better than yours" arguement between GT / Forza (or more accurately PS3 / 360) fans.

VGC itself estimated more than what is has now,the estimate was 2.4-2.5m and VGC admitted of having problems tracking some regions where SONY sold during the adjustments over the last quarter



i don't blame VGC. for undertacking GT5 (and PS3 sells for that matter) sells cause lets face it its not easy. gamers gused on a forum while VGC. is doing there best to track them so yea snake ur on the money bud.
