Forums - General - Newcastle FC - Chris Hughton sacked, your thoughts...

http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/n/newcastle_united/9261212.stm

Newcastle have confirmed they have parted company with Chris Hughton, as they feel 'a manager with more experience' is required to move the club forward.

Im not a Newcastle fan (primarily) but have always held a fondness towards them, you could call them my second team.

I find this news totally shocking, not long ago the club was in total disaray. Relegated, no money, no manager, Chris took charge when not many were jumping at the chance too. Taken them back to the Premiership on the first attempt with little to no funds. They have done well so far, sitting at 11th in the table as of 06/12/10. They have had some exceptional results, 5-1 Sunderland, 1-0 Arsenal.

Its beggers belief (to me) that they have sacked him. Though I have always loved Newscastle as my second club, those feelings are dying pretty fast. Mike Ashley was the worst thing to happen to Newcastle, though I would feel bad for the club and fans if they were relegated again as they are a team that belongs in the Premiership, it would serve Ashley right.

Anyway, enough ranting from me.

What are your thoughts? any Geordies here?

The best way to find out if you can trust somebody is to trust them.

moronic, they are a newly promoted team...11th in the table at this point is anything but bad for them, the fact the manager got them to that position itself is actually pretty impressive, maybe they actually want to fail, they paid the price for being sack happy with managers in the past (hence relegation in 08/09)

They keep on shooting themselves in the foot.

It's like when you put your girlfriend through college, and then she dumps you to get with someone else.  Now that they've graduated... they think they can do better.

I can't believe it.. he brought in fine players for a good price (Waaay better then 16 million pounds for Michael Owen back then)  to keep them afloat in the PL but what does the boss expect? European League places?

Just read it now on BBC website... I'm a Man U fan but I'm in total shock! That's the thanks he gets for rescuing Newcastle from the Championship? And it's not like Newcastle were doing badly this season - they're 11th, and if a newly promoted team finishes in 11th place at the end of the season in the Premier League, the toughest league in the world, neither the fans nor the board should have anything to complain about.

I'm a fair weather NewU fan and just because he got them tyo 10th, they suddenly thought they could do better...Morons!!!

Newcastle is the most ridiculously moronic club in the epl. My god what are they thinking. Oh wait they don't ever think about anything.

I'll tell ya something honestly. I would love it if they didn't sack Chris Hughton, love it! LOL
