Forums - Sony - My Gran Turismo 5 review (very long), from the biggest fan on Earth

I don't agree with you on the sound department. For me it deserves an 8. Though improved to prologue, it's still far for realistic.

At the same time other not hard core racers(pgr4) make it better.

Nice review. I like your scoring system.

How can you say this is the worst GT game ever made only because of huge expectations? How would you rate the GT games if you don't factor any expectations in?

This is clearly a better GT game than GT5P, GTPSP and possibly more GT games.

Since that is just a demo,compared to the real game,of course the real game is better.You can't compare a full-game with it's demo version.
GTPSP isn't a numbered GT game,of course there won't be as much work put into it.

More GT games?For their time,the GT games were the best in terms of quality and content.So no,GT5 is not better than ''other'' GT games (numbered I mean).

@ Bolded

With that,I think that he means the game somewhat appears the worst GT game yet,because it had the highest expectations yet.

@OP

This is the best GT5 review on the internet,period.The best one I've read yet,at least,and I've read quite a few.

For their time this may be true, but judged now side by side GT5 is clearly better than the others. That's what I mean. Also, GT games were the best racing games around (and still are imo) because the competition was almost none. Now, Forza is competing with it.

I know what you mean.
That's why I added ''For their time''.

yeah, the low scores are because of the hype, and it's Yamauchi's fault. Because the game is really good, but he hyped it so much with its "perfectionism".

btw, great review, seems that you are really a true fan, and not just another fanboy.

but then, if i had reviewed the game positively, would i be called a fanboy? is it just coz i rated the game negatively that i'm not a fanboy?

well anyway i gave it all my honest and devoted thinking..

well, yes. Because a fanboy doesn't want to look at the bad aspects of the game and only praises it in a senseless way. Also, you could have rated positively the game, but if you can accept the fact that this games has negative points, I am fine with that.

I disagree with you on the visuals score. GT games have always been visually consistant and beautiful. in 5, some rally levels are stunning (like the one where you are driving into the fireworks display) whilst other parts, (like the car I got for my birthday [the RS200]) are just woeful.

PS One/2/p/3slim/Vita owner. I survived the Apocalyps3/Collaps3 and all I got was this lousy signature.

visually consistent? what about the 200 cars that look good compared to the 800 that look like gt4 models?

@everyone

thanks for the comments :) i do hope that my review is fair and just to your minds. i put a lot of effort into it :)

That's why I'm saying the score you gave it "for a GT game" was too high.

Good review.

I have nothing to agree or disagree now because my copy comes tomorrow but I like something you wrote.

btw..

i meant that this is the worst GT ever made comparing it to just the mainline numbered games.

GT1 was the best racer and had the best graphics of its time.

GT2   "       "      "        "        "      "     "      "           "         "   "     "

GT3   "       "      "        "        "      "     "      "           "         "   "     "

GT4   "       "      "        "        "      "     "      "           "         "   "     "

GT5... not the best racer, and not the best graphics of its time.

so there, that's why it's the worst of the series in my opinion. that's why i gave it two scores. as just a game, it's brilliant. but when compared to the legacy of past GTs that have dominated the market, GT5 sucks.
