On a completely different note, will 3DS brake Kinects record? I think so.

| SickleSigh said: No offense but the first 2 weeks of Kinect the advertising and promos related to Kinect probably helped with the sales. Such as every 15 minutes if you go to Burger King and get a whopper you have a chance to win a Kinect. Target giving a free kinect with 100$ worth of purchase. This all happening the week of Black Friday probably helped sales a lot. But yes, the Kinect is doing amazing and better then I expected. Grats too it. |
Totally true.
The iPad was a well kept secret at the time of release. You barely ever heard about.

So you're trying to downplay Kinect's sales because Microsoft backed it with advertising, and promotions? Can you name me one massively successful product that received no advertising or promotions? My guess is no. |
Crack Cocaine.

Err? My mother knew what an ipad was, before it came. She still calls my Playstation 3 for "Nintendo".
500 million dollar ad campaign near Christmas will do that. I do not go one day without seeing an ad for kinect.

500 million is for at least 1 year though.

$500 million is what Nintendo typically spends advertising in Q4 of every year from what I hear. So if they spent as much as Nintendo does in the same quarter then what is there to complain about, really?
Tease.
I will never understand why people want this device to do well.
- For one, does anybody here REALLY want to play games that way?
- Second, the games for it are just.. well let's just say "uninspired." Devs should not be encouraged to make games of this poor of quality.

Like others have mentioned, the assuring sales should encourage software developers to make better games with larger budgets. Give it a year when the great titles start coming out. That's when Kinect will become really huge. |
Wii is nearing 80 million sales and devs still are not encouraged to make better games with larger budgets, why would 4-5 million sales of Kinect?
