Forums - Gaming - Canada gets its game on!

Man at PAX this year I thought man with Vancouver being pretty much the gaming hub of North America, wouldn't it be awsome if their was a Canadian Game Convention. Today to my suprise I saw the CGC talked about and confirm that their is going to be a Canadian Game Convention. This is not going to be any small convention its going to be huge.

Over 240 game companies will be their. Including EASports, Electronic Arts, Radical, Nexon Corp, THQ Inc., Vivendi Games, Relic, Take-Two Interactive, Slant Six ,Disney Interactive Studios. UbiSoft and Sony are both going to be represented as well.

Their will be keynotes from legends like Tommy Tallarico. Not only that but the Canadian Video Game Awards will coincide with the event. Regestration has not started yet but its expected to sell out extremely fast. The event will take place on Thursday May 19th and Friday May 20th shorter then PAX and other conventions but still going to pack a punch. The event will take place at the Vancouver Convention Center.

Man I am so excited, what do you think isn't it about time Canada got a game convention? Are you going to attend?

Well it is pretty early in the morning. Most of us Canadian's are asleep. I hope their is some new announcements I mean 240 companies present their is bound to be something new announced. Also because Canada has so many studios I expect to see alot of announcements from companies like EASports and indy studios.  I'm sure their will be alot of indy studios present since Vancouver is crawling with indy studios.

I can't wait. Also the Canadian Video Game Awards I can't wait to see which games win awards. This is so exciting!

Canada is one of the biggest gaming countries. With Vancouver being one of the largest gaming cities in the world. More developers per capita then many other major gaming cities. If you look at Vancouver. Toronto and Montreal you have one of the largest gaming countries out their.

At E3 their has been the Canadian Pavillion but with so many games coming out of our great nation its about time we got our own convention. Honestly I think every major game developing country should have a convention and now most do. I'm not sure if the U.K or France have gaming conventions but I think they should.

Besides the more conferences the more announcements and the more attention is drawn to gaming. Can it possibly be a bad thing?

we need an australian and a middle eastern one

"And today we're honored to announce......... nothing!" "Also note that the games in show are exclusive to this event since they're going to be banned nationwide anyways!"

thats awesome, because if i ever come an games programmer then regular programmer i can go live in canada which cant be that of an huge difference from Australia then living in the US.

too bad Australia doesn't buy games like we do mobile phones and tv's. We have more mobile phones then people all connected. So there are people we like 1-3 connected phones. And dont get started on flat screen tv's japan loves us.

Interesting. May need to look into going to this in 2012 if I don't go to PAX.

I've always wanted to go to a big gaming con. My wife always takes me to anime conventions, or general anime/game/sci-fi conventions.
