Oh noes!

Above: still the best game of the year.
I think the games that will be remembered 20 years down the road needs to be either generation defining or genre defining, a lot of the games listed will unfortunately be forgotten.
Imo, Wii Sports as the introduction to motion gaming. CoD as the biggest selling franchise (I see CoD27 in 2030).
COD
HALO
GRAN TURISMO
GEARS OF WAR
BRAIN TRAINING
WII SPORTS
WII FIT
FINAL FANTASY
MARIO
MARIO KART
MONSTER HUNTER (JAPAN)
METAL GEAR SOLID
GOD OF WAR (ONLY TO PEOPLE WHO KNOW THE GAMES)
UNCHARTED (SEE ABOVE)
LBP (SEE ABOVE)
RESIDENT EVIL
Thats all i can think of off the top of my head
Nobody's perfect. I aint nobody!!!
Killzone 2. its not a fps. it a FIRST PERSON WAR SIMULATOR!!!! ..The true PLAYSTATION 3 launch date and market dominations is SEP 1st ![]()
Define "remembered"...
Bet with Dr.A.Peter.Nintendo that Super Mario Galaxy 2 won't sell 15 million copies up to six months after it's release, the winner will get Avatar control for a week and signature control for a month.
Hrm... games from now to be remembered in 20 years? Not too many, honestly. I see...
-Wii Sports. This was the game that made motion a success.
-Wii Fit. Despite the multitude of pad games before it, this is the one that got people using their feet.
-Halo. A fair amount of things that are now staple in FPS games got started here.
I'm noticing a fair amount of people saying Call of Duty, and I'm going to have to disagree with this one. Activision seems to have a knack for killing off their franchises, either through neglect or milking. Pitfall, considered by some to be among the best 2600 games, saw one lackluster sequel, then just died. Tony Hawk and Guitar Hero have seen so many games that they are both now a fraction of their former glory; I do think this path will also be seen by CoD in less than 20 years.

-On a quest for the truly perfect game; I don't think it exists...
Super Mario Galaxy 1 and 2, Uncharted, Legend of Zelda Skyward Sword (if its good which it will), The Last Story (if its good) Wii Sports Series, Donkey Kong Returns
and i bet in 20 years time (2030) everyone will mention how shitty the graphics are in 2010 lol
The disruptive titles. Clones, sequels and formula re-ashes are going to be forgotten.
I'd say those titles could be:
- Halo 1
- Wii Fit
- Wii Sports
- Brain Trainning
- Modern Warfare

Games that people still talk about or play.
Also consider I'm not talking about games that are considered good or influential today.

So, again, define "pepole", truly hardcore gamers? The mainstream media? Somewhere in between?
Games who are influential will most probably be "remembered" among game fans, like SMB, LoZ from the NES days, and MGS, FF7, OoT, HL from the 32 bit gen.
But really, how many influential games are out there today? Wii Fit? No, it just sold a lot, and if the "genre" won't evlove in the next 20 years it will be forgotten.
Same for Wii Sports, unless motion sports really catches on for the next 20 years, the fact that it sold a lot doesn't mean it will be remembered.
Halo will probably be remembered for making online gaming really popular on consoles, and making console FPSs what they are today.
Maybe CoD will be remembered.
If by remembered you talk about games like Chrono Trigger, as in, games who didn't have a bit of influence but just really resonated with pepole...
I can see MGS4 having that one, maybe Uncharted 2 (and probably 3, especially if it outsells and is better than UC2), ME2, SMG (probably 2) and... dunno.
