No way can Nintendo release a new console until at least 2012. The 3DS is going to be a major investment, by all accounts probably around $300. Nintendo will want to give a little breathing room to let the 3DS shine in 2011 and possibly 2012--- the hype of the 3DS needs to circulate before a new Nintendo console comes in and steals some of the thunder. Plus, how many fans will want to invest in a 3DS and a Wii2 in the same year? Wii2 shouldn't be available until 2012 Christmas season at the earliest.
The Wii was performing sluggishly this fall, but it appears re-invigorated for now. Price-cuts, bundles, and new Wii hit games should sustain the Wii for a longer game cycle than the GameCube had. The Wii is actually doing great now considering that it is going into its 5th Christmas season and still outselling its more technologically advanced competitors.
A $50 price-cut later in 2011 will help the Wii to continue to fly off the shelfs
Most anticipated games of 2011:
Uncharted 3,Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword, Rocksmith
Modern Warfare 3, Super Mario 3D
