This actually excited me a little bit, that rarely happens to me with games these days. Definitely looking forward to this.

Nope it is for X360 also. ign has an article about as well confirming that its on both.
How our favorite systems are just like humans and sometimes have issues finding their special someone...
Xbox 360 wants to Kinect & PS3 wants to Move! Why are both systems having such relationship problems? The reason is they both become so infactuated with desire while watching the Wii as it waggles on by. They simply want what they can't have.

Nice :D Another one to take my money I'm sure
But I want Yakuza of the End first...so hyped for that one

Could be, unless Sega says otherwise. |
Andriasang also confirmed it, 360/PS3 multi. Sci-fi robot TPS from the Yakuza team (aka: ex-Smilebit)... could be the return of GunValkyrie?
Even though I wished it was PS3 exclusive (I don't want to delve into it however), I found this on a Japanese blog, but I'm not really at epic Kanji level yet, but it says that it is unknown atm or something like that:
edit: wow, this site can't use Japanese or something?
Other Japanese blogs also have it as PS360, so I guess it's multi. Didn't Famitsu mention it as PS360 as well when it got announced? I seem to remember that...
Yes, it's multi. I dunno why anyone would think Nagoshi would skip 360 for a futuristic shooter aimed at the western market anyway, that's like the system you release those kinds of games for.
The only reason Yakuza is PS3 exclusive is because it also basically sells exclusively in Japan (where 360's a non-factor), and can get away with it by sharing assets and technology between multiple releases.

Vanquish may tell a different story. It's a futuristic shooter aimed at that market, with higher sales on PS3. It's not by much, but it proves that the situation isn't so black & white. Yakuza is exclusive because it was an exclusive on the PS2. The market where it matters most has not changed much (which still compliments your point, but needed to be elaborated on further). |
Vanquish tells a story about how to bomb hard. That doesn't change the fact that these games generally tend to sell better on 360. If you're making a shooter, 360's the best bet (well, multi's really the best bet, but that goes for about every HD game really).
And yeah, Nagoshi views Yakuza as a "PlayStation franchise" at this point. Then again he used to say the same about Super Monkey Ball and Nintendo, so who knows what'll happen in the future... I'd say the market supporting PS-family exclusivity probably holds the most weight, and if there were a viable alternative market for Yakuza games, they'd probably go there as well.
