I see you're not familiar with other Gameloft games :

zombie infection (Resident Evil 5):

Hero of Sparta 2 (God of War):

Modern Combat 2 (Modern Warfare 2)

Gangstar Miami Vindication (GTA):

NOVA (HALO):

And many more... all of them are ok to play but you'll never remember anything about them..

Yeah Gameloft is like that. I played one of their Asphalt GT games (Asphalt 2. The DS version, which was a port of the mobile version) and they are a lot like Burnout and Need for Speed. Nothing spectacular but it's not a marquee title. That seems to be their business model. Copy successful formulas. There is nothing wrong with a game being derivative. But these type of games don't stand out from the crowd and when a particular type of game is copied to death by multiple developers, gamers get sick of it. See: Latest Guitar Hero and Rock Band 3 sales figures for 2010. Seeing as how I don't have a iPod Touch/iPhone and I don't game on my shitty little no-data plan prepaid phone, I haven't had any other exposure to Gameloft's games. But If I had a iPod Touch/iPhone (iPhone is a no for me because I'm a cheapskate prepaid phone user. Neither is the iTouch because I have no interest in watching video on the go, already own a Sansa Clip portable audio player and I don't feel the games and wifi internet browsing would justify the price tag), I'd probably lean a lot more to buying something unique like Game Dev Story as opposed to Gameloft's cloneware.

Asphalt 5 isn't that bad. It's pretty fun actually. Though NFS Hot Pursuit on iPhone is the best racing game in the App store.
