Forums - Sales - Nintendo's Black Friday week: 900k DS, 600k Wii

Either way, the way the statement is worded, it is clear that Nintendo came out on top again in the US this Black Friday, without Nintendo stating "we're number 1"

I'm pretty sure DK didn't have that much to do with the sales.  The Wii is just the Wii during the Holidays.

Software doesn't have that much to do with selling the hardware? What does then?

Lol have you been following the Wii?  It does some amazing crap without a constant influx of games.  The console sustained itself for months off basically one killer app.    It being Black Friday and the Wii being the "IT" thing to get, that to me is what drove sales.  DK's impact is probably insignificant in comparison, even if it did cause a bump.

Don't 'lol' at me, boy. And yes, I do. See for yourself what bump NSMBWii have got recently, which naturally resulted in bigger Wii sales. Holiday season isn't some magic that helps hardware to sell, it sells if it has software. If software good enough, hardware could sustain itself long enough, reemerging every season.

Good for Nintendo.

It's scary how well the wii sells without any real 3rd party support.

Imagine what coudl happen if Nintendo has some decent backing in the nextgeneration...

Yeah, I know.  But DK wouldn't of caused a bump that major, if anything it'll just ensure that the Wii continues to sell well.  NSMB Wii getting a bump makes sense, doesn't mean it didn't it come out quite a while ago.  And I don't completely agree, I feel like once Wii reached that "IT" status, it became the thing to buy around the holidays, like the ipod or something.

Yes, looking at NIntendo's history with other developers, it should be interesting.
