Gears 3 will sell more, but quantity =/= quality which is what we're all discussing :L |
Oh yeah for sure Sony will likely win again in terms of quality exclusives like they have the last couple years.

So you are willing to make a bet that Gears 3 will ...hm lets see.. score a higher Meta against all of the following games = Kudos if you're correct. Or are you simply implying your opinion and not the overall reception of the game? |
Well I did say it was better IMO, but gears 2 did beat most of those games' prequels in ratings and it was horribly buggy, with all the improvements I've seen I'm sure Gears 3 can beat most if not all of them in ratings as well as sales.

Yeah but I already said sales =/= quality.
Gears 2 has a meta of 93 as oppose to its predecessor which is on 94.
LBP is on 95 meta and the second one seems a lot better.
Killzone 2 is on 91 meta and thats with all the "heavy, grey looking, delay" critique it has gotten.
Since im in the KZ3 beta I, just like you said about Gears 3, can say that KZ3 can beat most if not all of that in the ratings.
Ico and Shadow of the colossus are old games and have few meta scores but they are considerd as the PS2's best games. The last guardian could be very damn good.
Resistance is taking another turn and unlike the previous games that was released with a year gap (Resistance 1 on '07 and Resistance 2 on '08) Resistance 3 is launching at '11. And yet the Resistance series went up from R:FOM compared to Resistance 2 in terms of meta as R:FOM is 86 and R2 is 87, making me believe R3 can be damn good.
Etc etc. My point is, Gears 3 has to beat every single one of them. If it manages to get a meta above Gears 2 and above Gears 1, its still on par with LBP1. And god forbid Naughty dog releasing Uncharted 3 at '11.
Opinions are opinions, Im talking subjective reviews which on meta is a compilation of opinions based on people who deliver their experiences of games for a living. Do you wish to do a bet that Gears 3 won't beat every single exclusive Sony has up for 2011 in terms of Meta?

isnt there suppose to be a fable kinect game in the works as well?
maybe ninja gaiden 3 will have kinect support would be a cool addition i think, exclusive not likely i would hope so though.
elder scrolls 5 i think will have some kinect support as well, not exclusive but considering how well 4 sold on the 360. i think a 6 month timed exclusive is possible.
star wars kinect game is suppose to be released sometime in 2011
GAMERTAG IS ANIMEHEAVEN X23
PSN ID IS : ANIMEREALM
PROUD MEMBER OF THE RPG FAN CLUB THREAD
ALL-TIME FAVORITE JRPG IS : LOST ODYSSEY

Shouldn't this be discussed in another thread? This is just pointless derailment. Really, all Chairman said was that Gears is a big title which will suffice for them in the holidays, and it's relevant to what the OP is discussing, because the OP's topic is about core titles for 2011, and how lucrative they are to Microsoft from a business standpoint. And let's face it, Gears is a big franchise. Not Halo/GT levels, but big nevertheless.
And last but not least, believe it or not, Gears has the quality to people who played it (according to general consensus).
The bottom line is, this debate between you and Jadedx is going nowhere, and only stirs up trouble.

Kojima: Come out with Project S already!

Agreed completely! Gears 1 is my favorite multiplayer game this gen, and within my top 5 of all time. Gears 2 took a serious plunge unfortunately, although it was still a solid title. I'm hoping much of what made Gears 1 so sensational returns in Gears 3. |
I hope so too, but I kind of doubt it
it seems everyone and their grandma is obsessed with matchmaking nowadays. And rankings. And dear lord if they put in killstreaks I'm going to kill a puppy.
When did multiplayer become such S3R10US BUISSNESS!!1!one? I'm not going to hold out hope for a return to the golden days, but maybe . . . just maybe . . .

GOTY Contestants this year: Dead Space 2, Dark Souls, Tales of Graces f. Everything else can suck it.
Talking about Potential Exclusives???
I have no idea why Prototype 2 or GTA V is on that list to start off with.
What will MS gain from Prototype 2 and I doubt Activision/whoever the dev is will make it exclusive.
Left4Dead 3 and Splinter Cell 6 have big chances for them to be multiplat. Not definite but a big possibility. Ubisoft did say SC may have a future on PS3 so the SC game that Jade Raymond at Ubi Toronto is working could very well be Multiplat unless MS signed up for another exclusive. If they haven't then obviously Multiplat.
Alan Wake 2 will be 2012. PGR5 could also be 2012 that is if it's happening.
THe only ones worth mentioning that could very well happen in 2011 are Halo Wars 2 and Viva Pinata and L4D3 if it doesn't go Multiplat.

Honestly, I dont think M$ will be chasing exclusives all that hard from next year onwards. Chances are plans afor the next box are already in the works. There should be an announcement for that in 2012. Console wars are a wrap at this point M$ seems only after casuals now so it's most likely just kinect stuff and maybe a few exclusive dlc here and there for multiplat favor. Exclusives are for competing with the ps3 and that race is over.
At this point it's smply about keeping a steady flow of great games even if they are also available on other systems as on average, the 360 will continue to outsell the ps3 in the US regardless of whatever exclusive shows up or fails to show up, trail slightly in the EU /others and stay relatively irrelevant in Japan.

Well I was just trying to make my point clear. Seeming as I've done it, sure. No more debate.
